So I have a prevail running ctmod 3.6 and Nome of my apps are being installed to my sdcard.I have about a 1gb ext4 partition.its seeming to bog my phone down.whereas I can't even get a decent 12-15hr charge.it dies at about 13 hours give or take.the settings in koumamod say SSM.what am I doing wrong?and what are folks using for their clock settings on the CPU for a decent stable long lasting charge?

you have to partition your card a special way for ssm and even data needs it partioned right and then all would work right. ( i grew up in trumbull ct and moved to fla in 2000 when i was 31) any ?"s just ask might go to bed here shortly but still here for now.

Thanks man.I did it with the mini tool for PC that SD partitioning software. Any chance you can direct me to this method you're talking about?

here is an easier and updated way to do this

This TUT was made for KK 2.0 but can be used for all KK's .
.
This TUT will explain how to partition your card so that the SSM feature will work .

READ ALL OF THIS FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There may be an easier way but I KNOW THIS WAY WORKS ! :-D

Save all data on your sd card to your computer because your card is gonna get wiped . :-)

Install CTMod . After install , go in to CWM . Go to advanced and clear the Dalvik cache then
reboot in to recovery and do a factory wipe then REBOOT .

Go back in to CWM , go to advanced and partition your card . 1024 mb then 0 swap . Reboot

After that

Put your phone in CWM mode , plug it in to computer .

You are gonna need to have Kouma's Odin Packer .
Unzip it and place in a folder on your desktop . It contains a GingerBread folder inside it .

You will then need to open the Gingerbread folder from the folder you just unzipped .

Do not click on anything in the folder
Just move your mouse pointer to an open area in the Gingerbread folder window .

Hold the down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and RIGHT CLICK YOUR MOUSE .
A menu will appear , select OPEN COMMAND WINDOW HERE . A command widow will appear , type adb shell and hit ENTER

a # sign will appear Type sdparted -i then hit ENTER

You should now be in the phone ,ready to wipe and partition your card .

You will then go through the motions of wiping your sd card . Just follow the prompts and wipe the card .

You will then be asked to choose a size for your new partitions . Enter mb's when asked for sizes 2 gigs =2048mb 1 gig = 1024mb
( if you have a large card , choose 2048 for the first two partition sizes that it will ask for )
( if you have a smaller card , use a lesser size . 1024 or 512 ).

After reboot , go back in to CWM , go in to ADVANCED and CLEAR THE DALVIK CACHE .

You're DONE !!! You should now be able to go in to the menu/settings/Storage .... Under available space, you should have over 150mb free.

Here are Kouma's directions . NOTE ! Do not select anything for EXT PARTITION TYPE or FAT PARTITION SIZE . Just hit ENTER .
ONLY PARTITION SWAP AND EXT .

1) Boot into Recovery
2) ADB shell into the phone
3) Run "sdparted -i"
4) Pick a size for a swap partition (CWM doesn't let you make them big)
5) Pick a size for your EXT partition. Let the fat partiton have the rest.
6) When sdparted completes, manually convert the swap partion to ext4 by performing the following:
put this (ssm wipe delvik/swap toext4 formatter) on sd card and flash in cwm

kouma packer.zip

SSM_Wipe_Dalvik-swap2ext4formatter.zip

this works!!!!

so i ran through everything,i wiped factory/dalvik then i used the sdparted tool via recovery.now if i reboot and start installing apps theyll go to the sdcard?
i made this:
160 mb SWAP
1024 MB ext4
remainder FAT32

Edit:theres gotta be an easier way to do this.i used CM7 and it was so much easier to use a2sd.
in settings/storage it still says only 117 MB free.

you need to flash the ssm wipe to convert the swap to ext4 and then wipe delvik again and then install apps(how are you installing them)???

flash as in cwm!!

so when i do that,it offers an option to make a partition of x mb for SWAP,ext AND FAT32.do i put 0 for ext and 1024(1gb) for the swap then flash that in CWM?and im doing this via adb while in CWM.

sorry for being a pain,i just have yet to get this to work for CTMod 3.6 and its buggin the hell outta me.lol

in the cwm you just do 0 then in the sd iparted you make them what you want and then when done flash the ssm wipe in cwm and that will convert it to ext4 and then reboot and then ready to install apps because defaults to ssm.

i made a SWAP Partition in sdparted via recovery 1024 MB,EXT2 0MB,FAT32 Remainder, rebooted recovery, then flashed that convert zip.still says 119 MB Free.this is really frustrating the hell outta me.
if someone can direct me to something step by step or more clear thatd be great.

after all this what are you doing when you reboot the rom??? and all has to be ext4 not 2

Thanks for trying man.I ended up figuring it out.with all my apps installed I now have like 149 MB free.I believe I just opened sdparted in recovery made a swap and EXT partition.then flashed a zip file from the complete SSM thread.when I booted up first time I had like 154mb free so I got it.

wow koooll that is how it works and as you use,the mem will go down as things collect data. i have now only 80 apps and after a while it stabilized with 95mb free. so don't get alarmed when mem starts falling it will stabilize out.!!!! well cool again and good luck.

Make sure you follow the directions with the folder and what you're supposed to do with it. That is important.

Yes I did everything per the instructions with no results I must not be doing something correct

Are you running windows xp?
If so, i believe there is an application (for PC) called Power Tools (or something like that) that will give you that option.
