Root Custom Boot Animation

easiest way is to buy jrummys rom toolbox..it will give you a list of bootanis to choose from.and install it for you..and save a copy of your current bootani in a folder on your sd.otherwise you have to find your own download it to sd..change name to bootanimation.zip and move it to system\media with a file explorer like root explorer..dont forget to mount rw before you move the animation

I have this call of duty boot ani but i cant figure out how to get it to work on my prevail it was made for the HTC Evo. Any pointers on how to get this done? i could figure it out if im pointed in the right direction.

it should work no matter what phone its made for

is it named bootanimation.zip and did you place it in /system/media?

to get it to look right you'll have to edit the desc.txt inside it and change the resolution to 320 480 but it will still work even if the resolution is wrong

Really? This was the first time I heard of this out of all the things I have read and the people I have talked to. Hmm.

How would the phone know that it was different if the files were named the same? Doesn't make much sense to me. I will be working on this in my programming class after spring break. :)

the phone doesn't automatically use bootanimation.zip's, they have to be enabled

the stock boot animation is bootani.qmg which can't be edited. pretty much all samsung phones are this way.

Yes it works before i change the desc.txt but like you said the screen being to small for the Evo bootani size doesnt look right but when i change the desc.txt thats when it doesnt work. i have read many diff forums (AF being my personal favorite) and still cant get it to work which is why im asking for help. is there a specific program i should be using to change the desc.txt or can i use notepad.

and also blood while i have your attention whats up with koumas 1.4 kernel i install your rom and then koumakernel 1.4 and it doesnt let me install any apps from my sd. even after i format the partition. when i install your rom with out koumas kernel erything is fine maybe this is a question for koumajutsu if you cant help thnx any way

how are you editing the desc? try this:

take the bootanimation.zip that works and use 7zip to drag the desc.txt out of it to your desktop

edit the resolution and save it then drag and drop the file back into the bootanimation.zip with 7zip and it should work.

try koumakernel 1.5.

thanks it worked i didnt have 7 zip but i do now i was always using win zip for erything.

also i know the boot sounds worked in shabby's roms wondering if they work in your rom.
