Custom message received tone?

I can see the option for Notifications and Ringtones but neither of these change the text message received tone. Where is the option and can I use MP3/Ringdroid files?

Open 'Messages', then Menu - Settings - Select sound.

Custom sounds have to be in an /audio/notifications folder on sdcard.

Thank you. Already had the file I wanted in that folder thanks to RingDroid.

Thread can be closed if anyone has the power.

Do you create card folders on the phone or can you do this on your PC?

You can mount the sdcard via USB and create the folders like any other on the PC, and if you have a file manager app installed on the handset you can also do it from there.

*edit* problem sorted!

I just aquired my Hero yesterday and must say I'm impressed with it so far (apart from ringtone volume not being loud enough). However I too wondered about custom text tones and came across this thread. I may be thick her but I still can't get custom text tones to work. I've created a folder named 'audio' with the subfolder 'notifications' but the I still can't change to a custom rington by going through.... Open 'Messages', then Menu - Settings - Select sound. I can only find the ringtones by going through my music player and even then there's no option to set as text tone only ringtone. Have I missed out something that's blatently obvious?

Thanks

Jo

For me, I just created the notifications folder directly on the SD card, rather than in another folder -

SD > notifications

and am able to browse/select the files I've added to this folder.

I also have an alarms and ringtones folder in the same format.

Hi,

My custom sounds worked a treat as set up by SLUG, until I upgraded to the latest Orange ROM, now although they show in the "select" list and they play, they don't play after being selected.

Ringtones work after "play/use as", but notifications fail all I get is the default bleat.

It's almost as if my SD card directories are no longer pathed.

Max.
