Root Custom ROM=Better battery life?

I just Installed Apex on my phone and my battery life has improved a great deal. I've had moderate usage since about 8 this morning and I'm still at 80%. Is something done intentionally by the designers or just a happy coincidence?

Every ROM I have tried is stripped down of most Blur elements that drain battery, so ya custom ROMs = better battery life.

Probably not a coincidence. Custom ROMs tend to improve performance through a combination of fewer background processes, faster launchers and optimized systems. Better performance = better battery life (Google "race to idle").

I've seen some users report better battery life with certain ROMs over other ones. So I wouldn't say a custom ROM automatically means better battery life, for instance Fab reported major juice drainage when he first flashed Obsidian. But after an update he said it was much improved.

I would say that with the better ROMs, you should expect more battery conservation than the stock ROM.
