I'm not too sure what i put on the GoldCard to create it, but the goal was to have an unbranded RUU at the end of it all.

Thankyou all for your efforts, Martin.

ahhh yes! that definately looks like a plain old shipping hboot with a radio s-off,not an eng or patched hboot that we would need to worry about not overwriting.

this is good,as your s-off will remain after flashing new ruus(that contain different hboots) and it should let you run the tool described by mister D-U-R-X. :)

I was actually thinking Scotty, that peachey may only have to run jjolko's tool to get SUPER CID... I am going to double check with him over on XDA that it is ok to run his tool on a rooted ROM... if so, there would be no need to run any other RUU than the unbranded Sense 3.0 one - would you agree?

Having had a response from the dev of the tool, he has said that you shouldn't run it to try and change your CID. Here is a copy of what he has said:

Hi,
no it is not possible, you should flash Raidroid (or similar old build) and old recommended radio, and then get HTC-001 (+ S-ON). Then you can flash the new RUU.

If you can still hang in there Martin, I would like Scotty to have a look at this and give his thoughts :)

Scotty - this would be flash raidroid on the phone, followed by a radio flash - is that right? Do you know which is the recomended radio?

ooooh my bad guys,i dotn know why i didnt get notifications you had replied- sorry for the delay :o

i personally would avoid going back to s-on.. we should try and keep s-off. i almost picked up an inspire yesterday,so i could have tested some things, but it turned out to still be an ATT one. apparently unbranded ones are not common in the us

i think the easiest method would be to try the DIAg file, however, peachy would have to understand and be ok with the risk, that selecting the wrong option at the wrong time coupld put his phone permantly into "flash" mode and thus be unuseable.

failing that,i think i should just have you(peachy) download a small file, and walk you thru using some fastboot/adb commands to try and change your CID. they will be 100% safe, but require some more thot and learing on your part than running a potentially dangerous DIAG file.

let us know which you are more comfortable doing. :)

going ahead with some adb instructions,if you want to, try this:

install these modified drivers from revolutionary

download this file: mini-adb.zip

extract it,and place the extracted(not zipped up) folder onto the root of the C drive of your PC. unzipping is native funtionality of windows 7,if youre running something else, you may need to use a utility such as "7 zip" to unzip(extract) it.

now open a cmd window. in windows 7,click the start bubble, and type "command" in the search box. this should open a small black window. other windows should be similar

in the window type,or copy/paste:

cd c:\mini-adb

assuming youve kept the folder named "mini-adb" and put it on the root of your c drive(not insde a folder) then your prompt should change to "c:\mini-adb>"

now enable usb debugging in settings/apps/development on your phone, uncheck fastboot in settings/power and plug it in to your pc. select charge only mode

type or copy/paste:

adb devices

if you get your phones serial number back, then your drivers are working, and adb sees your phone. next,do:

adb reboot bootloader

and after a few seconds your phone should boot to fastboot(white screencolored letters, similar to hboot). now type:

fastboot devices

as long as you get a serial number back again, youre in good shape. adb and fastboot are both recognizing your phone :congrats:

now type:

fastboot oem ?

and it should output a bunch of commands. copy those commands and paste them here, and we will go from there :)

now do this:

fastboot getvar all

copy that info and paste it here,as well.

almost forgot: dont let your phone sit in the fastboot screen for too long when youre not working with it,as it drains the battery quickly  and its not charging in that mode. so when youre done, you can:

fastboot reboot

and your phone wil reboot itself :)

other info
to paste in your cmd window: left click/paste. you cant "control/v"

to copy from your cmd window:
-left click
-click "mark"
-highlight everything in white
-hit the "enter" key,or left click

well,i have good news and bad news. the bad news first... your hboot doesnt have the command we need to cahnge the CID. what we were looking for is "INFOwritecid" in that first command list

the good news: as indicated by the red and blue above, you allready are superCIDed. im not really sure why the app you used returned something different... ill have to download it myself and test it on my various superCIDed phones and see wat it comes up with. :)

i did a quick search for youe unknown error 155 and found references to starting the RUU with the phone in fastboot, not a booted phone, when you get it.

so why dont you try this:
1)put your phone in fastboot(with adb reboot bootloader,or select "fastboot" with the power button in hboot)
2)take the unbranded RUU that youd like to run,and run it as administrator,if possible.

let us know what happens :)

also, ill jumb back to the front page and see if i figure out which RUU you were wanting to run,so i can download it,and give you another way to try and run it,if the "run the utility with the phone in fastboot" method fails :)

hmm, this is interesting. i installed cid getter on my rezound,my thunderbolt and my sensation. sensation and TB both showed 11111111 for the CID.

rezound however, still showed vzw_01  so installed my eng hboot, and did a fastboot oem readbcid wich did infact yield the vzw cid still. fastboot getvar all did list 11111111 as the device cid,but doesnt list the backup cid within these variables.

so then i change the backup cid to 11111111 as well, with fastboot oem writebcid 11111111,checked it with readbcid, and rebooted. opened cid getter again, and this time it did show the 11111111. i guess some CID change procedures do not change the backup cid as well, and maybe this is what the app is actually reading on the phones. at least in some cases.

maybe the backup cid is whats casuing the error 155? let me know if you dont have success running the ruu file with the phone in fastboot, let me know,we have some other things to try :D

cool. one thing i forgot to mention: the ruu will wipe all your data,so make sure you are prepaired for that. make a nandroid backup, and maybe backup any apps/appdata that you dont want to lose with titanium,or my backup pro :)

Hi, I don't really have anything i need to back up on my phone so that's not a problem at the moment. Is it the HTC-001 that i need to flash on my phone, the unbranded RUU that allows my phone to update?

the unbranded RUU is wat will allow your phone to recieve unbranded, from htc OTAs :)

the 11111111 superCID should be fine, you should not need to change it :)

Yes scotty85, it seems to of worked with no problems :). D-U-R-X.....which details do you mean? Do you mean if i was to use CID Getter again?

Just nipping to school for my son, i will provide any info required when i get back. Many Thanks to you both, Martin.

Ok, in the software information it reads as follows:-

Android Version 2.3.5
HTC Sense Version 3.0
Software number 3.12.405.1

Kernel version 2.6.35.10-g931a37e. htc-kernel@and 18-2 #1. Wed Nov 9 14:04:03 CST2011
Baseband version 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
Build number 3.12.405.1 CL199157 release-keys
Browser version WebKit/533.1

The only thing that doesn't match up is the "Phone identity" section, the phone number it has down is not the number i am using but i'm guessing it must have been a contract phone at one point.

When I got my phone from Orange, I asked if I could keep my old O2 phone number and I noticed that my phone number wasn't the same as the one on the phone, so I wouldn't worry about it!

It looks like all's set for you to get OTA updates from HTC now though :D

Well to be fair i'm made up! I can't thank all you guys that helped me out enough, and i really appreciate all your time and efforts in helping me achieve what i originally asked about. Big thanks to you all and i hope someday i can give something back and be of assistance to you.

Many many thanks, Martin ;)
