Root custom sounds with roms?

With all of these great roms that the devs have been putting out for the esteem, has anyone added custom sounds to their phones? Like lock & unlock and button press or custom boot sounds and animations beyond what comes with there rom?

My lock and unlock sound is the metal gear solid codec open and close .
anyone got anything good?

Ok I guess I should have made the question more clear. What IM asking is for people to tell everyone what custom sounds they are using for their esteem and possibly share them with everyone.

I kill all sounds and delete the oggs. I have one ring tone, one notification as far as system sounds. I hate my phone making noises and I'm trying to disable the annoying vibration when unlocking the phone. All the sounds and vibrations just kill your battery.

But, lockscreen sound not sure about, but everything else convert to oggs and put them in the media folders @ system>media or we also have system>sounds. Reboot and you can choose them in the settings.

Keyboard sounds are in the hime. Apk in the raw folder (raw folders always contain sound files)

Hahahaha. Me too. I have ONE ringtone and ONE notification tone.

As much as I truly appreciate you taking the time to help me, I already know how to do it. Read op

Really? That's crazy. I love my phone making noises. I figured everyone would have there phone doing all kinds of funny digital electronic noises.

I used to have my LG Optimus M set up with the voices of the Portal Turrets. My power on sound said "Activated", my lock screen sound said "Nap time", and my unlock sound said "There you are".

Haven't taken the time to set up any custom sounds like that for my Esteem yet.

your talking about modding any sound in system/media/audio/ui, right?

just got rid of it but i had a gun reloading when locking screen/sleep and firing when unlocking, used an online audio converter for the .ogg well just put it on silent, trying to think of something i could bare on the keypresses, well something funny that my kids would like, from their movies, and maybe adding "action!" to the video record

as far as boot sound goes, still havent found a way to get mine to actually work....

but yes, i partake in this activity

Nice! The gun sounds would be cool to have when I visit my uncle. Do any of you still have any of these sound bytes? I would love to expand my effects.library.
All I have are metal gear solid and halo , I can't find any good mass effect one with out it being distorted or very bad sound quality

sometimes i take the phineas and ferb stuff to make the ringtones and sounds on my kids phones...its funny stuff.....lol...i used a website i found for the star trek rom to get all kinds of on off sounds and different noises for that rom...can't remember where but it was pages and pages of sounds..not all great quality but i was also using some old school tv sounds from back when the original star trek was on...but great tricorder sounds and phaser sounds and what not.

Oh cool that's genius! And I'll have to find that site I only have one tricorder sound and it suck. Thanks for the tip

if you extract the sounds from my star trek rom they are set up in there...and just need renamed for ya..i got some funny ones in there and a few great sounds..i like the camera one personally..if i can remember or find the sight i will send you a link.

I use "zedge" to get my sounds and convert the mp3 to ogg. Then rename to whatever I'm replacing. My ascend is basically a Rio (bird movie for kids) sound board for the little ones. As well as a blackops zombies board too depending on the backup

well i went to zedg got the matrix sound for my boot sound instead of the famous metro greeting.i used the transformer sounds for locking, thats a ruff one you can put some together :smokingsomb:

Found my lock/unlock sound in system/media/audio/ui. If I want to change it do I paste the soundbyte there and add .ogg at the end?

If your files are .wav files you can rename them to .ogg but, I may be wrong about this, I think you have to convert an mp3 too .ogg, be sure to rename them to lock.ogg and unlock.ogg, and if you want to keep the originals just rename them unlock.ogg.bak
And lock.ogg.bak in case you ever want to switch it back

Exactly what mrast said. Its also nice to reboot once you've swapped your files. I posted a online converter in here, ill post a link in a few min

That would be greatly appreciated. I have tons of video game sound clips in mp3 format I want to convert.
