OK... So I'm getting my DX in 2 days, and it will be my first Android phone. I've never played around with any phone settings before and am pretty cluleless. I may need some help with this when I get my phone in.
Also....Anyone have an Oregon Ducks Keyboard layout for the Dinc? My bro is a huge Duck fan and has the Dinc.
Do you have to be rooted for it to work?
ok so its not just for root users.
i did everything and when i select HTC_IME mod the keyboard i created wont show up. What am i missing?

It won't show until you select in any type field, "input method", then you should see at the bottom of your list past Swype/Multi-touch, HTC_IME mod > select that. Then it should come up whenever you bring the keyboard up.
On a different note: I've just created my first keyboard, I've transfered both files to the SDcard and installed each one. Say I create another that I want to replace the current one with. Do I simply install it again? (the generated keyboard file) or do I need to manually switch to it after installation? I'm still at work and honestly can't do much, so if this is in the settings of the mod please forgive me - gonna check this out a lot more when I get home, just wanted to see how easy it was to apply.
Thanks!
All you have to do is install the new keyboard and it goes right over the top of your old one. You don't have to re-set up anything. Once it is installed the old one is gone and the new one is there. I have set-up a folder on my SD card called Keyboards and renamed the files so I would know which one is which. I REALLY like being able to make my own.
