Cyanogenmod 10.2 on D710BST

Ok, I've been lurking around here for a while now, but never registered because I either had nothing to contribute, or my questions have been answered through existing posts. I've now run into an issue that I need to ask about, so hi! :)

Feeling adventurous, I installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my D710BST. The ROM works perfectly, I can place and receive calls, WiFi works, etc. However, I have no network data access. What's more, there is no ##3282# menu, or profile/PRL update menu since this is an AOSP ROM. Is there any way I can get the needed information in, or do I have to step down to Cyanogenmod 10.1?

Try *#*#4636#*#*
Select the first one . I don't know who or what phone carrier you have . So be careful .

I never flirty it to write work the right way myself. My issue was texting. But to get into those settings I think it was a voice command from the vice search. I have to look it up but I will post it if someone doesn't beat me to it.

First off were you on stock Jelly Bean prior to going to CM? If so did you remember to flash an ICS Modem (baseband)? CM doesn't work with JB modems. Next, there is no hidden menu access on AOSP ROMs. If you are wanting to do things like a profile or PRL update you need to flash to rooted stock, do the update, then flash back (nandroid backups help).

ahh i must have been thinking of another rom or something. sorry about that. i know there was a rom i tried where you go into the voice dialer and say "APNs" and it brought it up.

Now for MMS issues in CM and other AOSP ROMs there is a fix for that. Check the "one stop shop" that is a sticky, and there is a link to the fix for that in it. Most development is on the Sprint base, and that has different server settings for MMS. That means people on Boost or Virgin have to change those settings, It is not hard to edit the APN for those and there are CWM flash-able files that fix the issue for MMS to match the ones for your carrier.

it was a while back that i tried all that. but i do remember i was unable to make it work. tried any and every option i could find to make it all work. but still was unable to change the APNs. i struggled with it for a day or two till i got frustrated and gave up and went back to a stock rooted rom. i am thinking of giving it a try once again this evening now that i have been reading up on it again. would be nice to have CM on my phone as im already running it on my tablet and i love it.

Just make sure you read up on bug and other issues that others may have, to make sure they won't be a problem for you. Various problems do come up, things like 4g speeds low, or camera issues etc. Just for having a ROM where everything works, I have stuck to TW ROMS, either my own modified stock or another custom TW ROM like Project X, etc. If you are wanting just a look and feel difference, then just change to a different launcher.

i am using lightning launcher. its quick and easy and works well. my only issue is i live in a low signal area and it seems the ICS modem makes it worse. this is the first phone i have owned that has been minimally modded. i look through these roms and see all the great additions and goodies they have added and really want to run them. but had issues with most i tried. i came from the prevail to the S II and it is a bit different. but im sure i will figure it out.

I've tried the fix in the shop, both methods. There are no APNs listed at all. Tried to set one up manually, but it wouldn't save. This is with the ICS modem installed. It said it would work with JB modem, but I think I'll try it anyway.

thats the problem i had. tried everything i could read up on and still nothing worked. including an app that manages APNs and replacing the file with all the info from a stock boost list. maybe i gave up too soon.

Yeah, still no go with the JB modem. Guess I'll have to wait for it to gets released for Boost. How does this work in Cyan 10.1? Maybe there's a way to patch 10.2?

well, like Codegerm said. have to use a ICS modem. i was successful with that part when i installed it. just couldn't get into the APN list for texting.

I wish someone would make a few Roms strictly for the D710BST. like an all in one odin type thing. if i knew how to build it i would make some.

Is the apn for texting and mms the same? if so, there may be a fix i have for it (never used it on aosp) but one of you guys could try it and see if it works

well, this is what i use to fix the apn on my phone, but like i said i never used it on aosp (i assume were talking about boost mobile apn?) basically i download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&hl=en then give it root and disable the ics check, (make a backup before doing this i dont know if itll work on aosp), then delete the apns, and then restore the apns, if you want to try it, i could upload the apns for boost but im not sure where to upload it

Plain SMS text is different from MMS. A SMS text is basically a hack. Some enterprising technician figured out how to send short text messages on the control channel on cellular voice, that is why even with 3g off SMS works.

MMS uses the data link and is more like a mini email, and as such has a server, IP address, and port number to send the messages through. That is why there is mmsfix zip files for Boost and Virgin.

ahh i see, that means what i posted is likely not to work, and i use this method to fix my mms since i could never seem to get the mmsfix zips for boost to work o.o

I tried the MMS fixes listed in the one stop shop with both ics and jb modems. Neither installed any apns and it wouldn't let me save an apn made from scratch. Anyway, I switched to the Pacman 4.2.2 rom with ics modem and after applying the mms fix it's working well. Just don't get why it didn't work for cyan 10.2.

The app APN PRO works Great for me for adding and editing APNs
You just have to remember to convert it to a system app using Titanium Backup before you start editing them

I'll have to keep that in mind. For now, I'm good with this ROM. No bloat, and it has the new gesture keyboard which is the main thing I didn't want to lose. :)

I found an app that when installed as a system app can import and export APN settings in 4.3. However, I can't convert it to a system app because the superuser binary in CM10.2 doesn't fully work in 4.3. I know you can install apps through recovery. Can I just install the apk, or do I have to make a zip? How do I do that?

well, i understand exactly what bg4m3r was saying. i just installed 10.01 and texting and phone work. but, no data, or 4g and i changed my MMS just like it said to in the sticky ( guessing the two are connected somehow ) oh and im running the FB27 modem. any suggestions? tried searching but it seems there isnt many of us having this problem.
