Cyanogenmod 10.2 on D710BST

well, i understand exactly what bg4m3r was saying. i just installed 10.01 and texting and phone work. but, no data, or 4g and i changed my MMS just like it said to in the sticky ( guessing the two are connected somehow ) oh and im running the FB27 modem. any suggestions? tried searching but it seems there isnt many of us having this problem.

I take it you mean GB27 modem?

ALL AOSP ROMs will use an ICS modem. If you don't have data working (no 3g etc), then your MMS will not work no matter what you do for your APN settings. MMS messages require a data connection, and do not use the 2g (cellular voice) connection that SMS uses. So get off the GB27modem which is a Samsung JB modem, and go to FL24 or FI22 etc...

No problem.

The AOSP jelley bean ROMs (CM10 plus) actually arrived out for the Galaxy S2 before Samsung's JB release, and so were developed on the modems that were available at the time, which was ICS. Samsung did things a little different with JB and so the modems for it are not compatible with the AOSP JB or any ICS stuff.

ahh i see. well it could be just me. but it seems a bit slower than the stock JB modem. and btw everything is fine and working now. so, is there a difference between FL24 or FI22? or are they basically the same?

FI22 is prior release for ICS. FL24 is the latest build of ICS, and should be the last. FL24 as a ROM release was problematic for many users and so wasn't liked, and many took their phones back to FI22.

I was having signal strength issues with the ICS modems. I've actually gone all the way back to 4.1.2 TW so I can use a JB modem. Hopefully a 4.2 or 4.3 TW ROM will get released soon.

Codegerm, I owe you an apology for getting snippy with you in that other thread. I was out of line. I realize you were just trying to offer advice. I took it the wrong way. My bad.

Unless something changes at Samsung, I believe 4.1.2 is the last official release for our phone. I could see a 4.2 or 4.3 TW ROM for the GS3 being ported over to this phone, and hopefully that will come to pass

Better performance on signal does seem to be the case when on a JB modem. My guess is some streamlining in the way it works and some tweaking in to gain and tower scan.

no worries, I am not that thin skinned.

Well. I am a bit late to the party. My lady and I have a Samsung Galaxy Prevail, because we're of the fixed-income variety. I managed to get it through Odin, rooted, and the only stable ROM I've ran is CTMOD... I tried other ROMS, like honeybread... it just wasn't stable enough. Since my lady likes to play online games, I've tried CM9 3.5.5 Kang, with mixed results (!). I just want to find an ICS/Jellybean ROM that would enable some Adobe apks, et al... my lady and I will be communicating via text (read: Yahoo Messenger) when she leaves for Colorado (her daughter is terminally ill). Any help out there would be gratefully appreciated from a guy who hot-tubbed a 3VO... thanx :) My old screen name here was BrotherBone - but, when I terminated my Google email and account, I couldn't access these forums under that screen name. OcnBrze? Lord Vincent? Anyone? Please help me figure this Boost Mobile, Samsung Galaxy Prevail problem out.

The Prevail is a great little phone, mine is still doing its thing for a family member. I think the best you can do is the current release of CTMOD for it. CM9 (which is ICS) is pushing the device pretty hard. I don't think the Prevail is capable of running a Jelly Bean ROM, there is just not enough RAM to do it, even with doing the hack to enable swap file (virtual ram), it just wouldn't be useable.

You can always skin it differently with a theme or download a different launcher.

I'm now using hroark's CM7; it runs amazingly well, and using it with the external memory data packet gives the internal memory some added oomph, if you use apps like DroidSail Super App2SD, and do a lot of linking of the aforementioned. Thanks to Lordvincent 90, for linking me to MediaFire to add live wallpaper capability. Good ROM.

I would be remiss if I didn't give credit where it is due: thank you, scaryalien, for your help with live wallpapers for CM7; Lordvincent 90, as well, for fielding questions that I ask; the one thing I have learned in these forums, is that there is no such thing as a stupid question; only rampant stupidity will remain, without questions asked.

I wanted to copy this in from the CyanogenMod 10.2 D$710 thread, where I had gotten some assistance Lordvincent 90, and since I had gotten assistance from scaryalien, as well, I thought it befitting to paste this in to this dying thread. hroark's CM7 Mod is what I've arrived at for the Prevail that my fianc

if it helps, what I do for me to keep mms and sms straight I remember it this way

MMS = Multimedia messaging service
SMS = Standard messaging service

So when you think of multimedia it triggers that it's like a movie or something sounds or videos, ie: you can send a video or pic to someone

Standard is just plain ole boring text.

That helps me so hope it helps others.
