Root Cyanogenmod

I posted this at xda but am hoping someone here can help?

WiFi cuts in and out.. I never had an issue at work or home(2 different routers) until I flashed cm 6.1.2
even with wifi/advanced set to never sleep, it still cuts out.
this morning I went so far as unrooted/ factory reset and the damn wifi still cuts in and out will only restart if I manually turn off then back on again. did all updates to profile etc... my wifi router is fine..(laptop works) never had an issue with other rooms...I like cm6xx but wtf?
Any help before I go thru all the crap with sprint on a replacement phone... thanks

I did 2 things at the same time so I'm not sure which one made it work. the 2 things I did were

1. Reset my router
2. installed a fresh version of mikfroyo (sense rom) and did a TB batch restore (apps+data)

now wifi works....

You might not want to restore app data, though.

I am curious about this, I posted up in the CM forum, to see if I could get any clarification, but if I could do a TB restore (apps+data) on CM without causing any probs, it sure would make things a million times easier

Also curious for those of you who actually run CM as your primary rom, what version do you recomend that is actually STABLE, no issues etc...?
6.0?
I should add, if not Cm then what would be a good super stable aosp rom to try?

It's more of a precaution. I always restore apps with data when going between sense ROMs. I just never restore all apps blindly. I've had too many issues with apps like tasker not working correctly because restored through titanium. When going from sense->AOSP and back, you have to be even more careful because you want absolutely not trace of one to cross over into the other. You're probably fine restoring app data, but if you have problems with a certain app, you may need to wipe app data, clear cache, reboot, then reinstall the app. It's just a pain if you have a lot of apps that don't work, and you need to reinstall a bunch fresh. It's up to you.

Did you restore anything between CM and Sense? I know you said you did a factory reset, so I suppose not. Did you install anything after the factory reset?

After factory reset, I only set up goggle account and wi fi, no apps.
I re rooted, and flashed a old nand backup with warm 2.2
my wi fi issue went away :)
I do not know why the factory PC36IMG file did not correct:confused:
I learned how important and backups are now!!
I went back to CM6 and this time wifi works ok... I used Armon this time, as I normally do... not sure why, but thought I had to use clockwork(i read it somewhere) with cm6

I used amon an still got the issue, maybe it only takes the 2nd time lol. I'll probly try 6.1. 1 in the next few days

You used a PC36IMG.zip to go back? I can think of a few reason why that might not work right. Which one did you use?

the file in rooting for dummies (un rooting section)... I've 3.70 w/hboot 2.10

Sorry, I didn't quite read your whole post right :). So you fully unrooted, and wifi didn't work, then you rerooted, restored a nanrdoid backup, and wifi started working? Interesting. I'm sure there's something there we're missing. Either way, glad it's working now.

I used Root Manager to download CM 6.1.2 and it worked first try. I can live without wimax for a while since there is no signal here and I still have DSL at home (no phone service). It did reboot once while running the camera app, and maybe I will try some different kernels next.

Previously I had merely rooted with Unrevoked and used Root Manager to remove bloatware. I like the non-Sprint non-Sense experience, though it requires a bit of customization to make usable, such as getting voicemail notifications. (I do need Google Maps, which unfortunately drags in a lot of annoying Google processes.) Maybe someone can recommend a good link for AOSP tweaks and recommended apps?

something else I noticed in CM6 is that while some things are defintaly faster, I find other things slower and not as smooth, such as scrolling through the app drawer, it seems to lag, even on youtube videos of people showing CM6.

Think I may just wait for CM7 or evervolv to be stable and give it another go

Does anyone know where I can get the ringtones and the gallery from cm6?
I found the gallery on the market, but could not find a way to make it my default

gotta get those ring tones:cool: --- i'm running mik's until CM7 is stable.. had to many issues with 6x thanks!
