Cydia like app for android???

i used Cydia on my old iphone (4s), the only good thing about it is that you can get games or aps free of charge rather than paying for them.
now Im an android user (wouldnt change back to iphone for nothing). it would be great to have an equivalent to Cydia on android though.

Stealing something isn't good, it's wrong.

No it wouldn't, it would just result in every decent developer relying on ads or in-game microtransactions to pay their bills. I don't work for free, I'm sure you don't either, so why should app developers?

IOS > Android because of simplicity, popularity (who doesn't have an iPhone. Everyone on TV has one and the president wanted an iPhone but isn't allowed), minimalistics, and apple in general is more focused on all aspects of how you use the device (unlike Samsung who just throws in random features people may not use like smart scrolling)

IOS is only down on customizable factors (oh wait you can jailbreak)

On top of iPhone being more simplistic, their more customizable as well because cydia is the most easy, straightforward, app store for tweaks, themes, and addons as well)

Let's face it people, no one in the normal world involved in society would know how or what rooting is. I know the same goes for jailbreaking as well since its a geeky thing but not one person I know with android has even heard of that. Rant over, bye

- coming from someone who owns a galaxy s4 and jailbroken ipod touch 5g

agreed .. most normal users.. are not techy and don't do jailbreak or rooting.
so.. lets not talk about that.
which phone is more customizable out of the box?

even if you jailbreak the iphone. it still can not match the personalization of an android phone out of the box.

----------------------
about rooting on andoid....

you can buy non-expensive Nexus phones from google play.. that is not locked down.. and/or can be rooted with a 1-click method.

with jailbreak iphone.. you are constantly chasing and running from apple.
they find ways to make you update the OS.. and close jailbreak on the phone you already jailbroke.. and you have to wait for some one to reopen it.
constant cat and mouse.

Rooting=hard?
Thanks for the laugh.

Flash cwm via fastboot in the android sdk or odin.

Flash rom, boom, done.

Doesn't anyone remeber how to use dos promts anymore [fastboot, htc/Motorola]

Or how to click a button and select a file and press start [odin, samsung]

Be smarter than the collection of plastic, metal, and silicone in your hand that can only add.

Rant done

...and everyone can read Chinese of course. :p ...rooting = hard, of course not.

Unfortunately you can't always assume rooting instructions for all Androids are going to be in English, or if indeed the instructions and tools are proven and reliable. After all we get enough threads on here about it, usually in General Tablet Talk and Other Androids. I've had PMs asking can I help translate Chinese instructions and rooting tools into English.

Pop quiz: What country has the most Androids?

^ this.
All root is equal but some root is more equal than others.
The differences in rooting methods still vary wildly as i learned just the other night with my wifes "new" phone (and promptly soft bricked it) :D (brought it back to life though and its rooted and fine) but someone with less experience would have thrown it in the bin.
Point is, its only "easy" when you fully understand whats happening and know how to swim your way out of the creek when it goes wrong

Indeed.

I have soft bricked ever phone I have owned, except for my note ii.

First time I did not have a backup and thus no internet to download another rom to flash lol.

and as for diffrent methods. Thats why I stick to trusty samsung.

Odin flash cwm, flash rom.

Lol and it was a sammy i soft bricked :(
Tbf it was really her that did it but i should have taught her better :D

Ever tried to root or ROM a Samsung Galaxy Win GT-i8552? - sometimes known as a Grand Quattro.
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-grand-quattro/

No but I am assuming that it is not as easy as I made it out.

Which is true in some cases for any make phone. Just samsungs are typically easy.

Thats why ever since I bought an lg that didnt have a root method, yet, I have always researched root methods and rom availability before buying a device now.

Sometimes dumb things can happen to. Like my buddys htc.
He went from cm10 to cm11 and bricked his phone. Why, his cwm wasent up to date. So instead of downloading cm10 and reflashing [cuz the guy didnt backup] I fastbooted the new cwm to his phone and reflashed 11.

Of course he didnt read the directions, or make a backup.

So I blame that totaly on user error. Update or die

It is developers that have made Cydia availble or others like it.
im sure there are plenty out there that "steal" online films, or music. it is the same. it is something that one cannot prevent others to use it. it is there to be used. whether its right or wrong its not for me to judge.
im sorry if my comment offended you in anyway.
all the best in your work )

FYI on AF it's wrong, forum rules, end of. There's also the DMCA, which applies to any site with servers and/or business in the United States, like AF.

What we do here in China is another matter... ...which is very likely where much of the Cydia stuff comes from, along with Russia.
