D4 Rom

Just updating my experience on D4 ROM (v4) so far.
After 3 days of normal usage I haven't experienced a single FC.
Solid as a rock.

Does anyone know what (app/widget) that clock is? Will i find it on Play Store?

I tried this ROM and after 5 hours, moved back to GB due to horrible battery life. Lost 25% every 2 hours with minimal interaction.

I've just upgraded to this ROM & all seems to be working well.

Only problem i've got at the moment is that the browser isn't working. Keep on getting a message saying 'Unfortunately, browser has stopped working' any ideas?

EDIT: I've installed the Chrome Beta browser, so all is well.

I'm getting the same 'unfortunately, messaging has stopped' message from the stock messaging app. I'd prefer to use this app, so does anyone know how i'd fix the problem?

I've tried clearing data, but still get the same problem.

Did you flash over or full wipe?
I found even flashing D4 over itself would kick up some gremlins further down the line.
A full wipe always seemed to do the trick for me.

I did a full wipe. I restored a titanium backup, could that have affected it?

Loving the ROM though :-)

Since the ROM is cm9 based no stock apps will work. Its kind of the point of the ROM, not to look or be like a Samsung based ROM in any way.

Loving this rom. Haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life so i'll see how it fares at work tomorrow, but no problems so far anyway, everything's working as it should. Love not having touchwiz or any other Samsung rubbish on it too. :D

I think by "stock" he means the messaging app that comes as standard with the ROM

That's what I thought at first. The talk of the titanium restore may have confused me. I took it as the stock messaging app was restored from there.

Yes, by stock I mean the messaging app that came with the ROM. My titanium backup came from check ROM v6.

Would I need to do a full wipe and re flash the ROM to fix this?

See where you are coming from now butty. :)
I only ever use TB for user apps, and a the odd system app's data.

+1, I just select restore missing apps + data; never had worries.

Regarding the rom, I flashed it today and have some comments.

I'm still having trouble getting used to AOKP, since most of the other roms I tried for any reasonable amount of time were sammy-based. There's more annoyances than benefits in these AOKP ones imo, including the lack of GApps included (have to dl separately), inability to remove the search bar, much less toggles in the notifications bar, and a boring interface.

But these can be overcome with a bit of fiddling, and I'm loving the jkay-style tweaks, such as removing the clock from the status bar and the lock-screen options. This rom also seems pretty smooth. I'll give it a couple of days and come back with a more structured opinion :)

For people used to AOKP ICS roms, 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know why I can't enter apn details? It worked with sammy roms. I went to the apn section, entered the details (had to enter more than normal =/) and saved, then went back and still nothing. It's rather critical ;)

2. Where are the usb utilities? Surely that's not part of GApps. Whenever I used to plug in my usb I had a few options in the notifications bar and I could go to USB Utilities in settings and connect that way. Neither are possible now!

I cant answer (1) for you mate as I saw where the section was, but never bothered changing any details.

As for USB if you go into menu>storage then press the menu key a menu pops up that should give you what you want.

As for the notification bar, this is also configurable. you can add the widgets you want (wifi, gps, flight mode, torch etc) as per JKay. You can specify if you want the icon or text version of the widgets.

In Hydrog3n, you can even change the style between icons and on/off switches.

Thanks Hawker my good mate, I found it! Still haven't got apn details working yet so I have to switch to another one for now, but overall a good rom :D

I've had some issues with latest version with latest gapps

installed fine but after installing battery mod and other settings it got stuck on boot. I reset and re flashed this time round even though it installed battery mod the icon in status bar was the same

Go into settings>system>status bar>battery status style and make sure 'icon (default)' is selected. I changed the battery style but had 'ercentage' selected so it didn't show the modded one until I went back to 'icon'. Could this be your problem?

When you guys installed this ROM, how did you get the Google Play app to work? I downloaded the APK and installed it but as soon as it loads, it crashes. Is there a special version for ICS?
