Damn Google talk Notification Again

Hello,

I know this has been discussed before but I just can't seem to fine the answer.

I keep getting the notification that Google Talk Authentication Failed.

The problem is, because it fails to Sign-In I can't access any menu's in Google Talk to disable it.

I go into settings and stop the process and kill the program, but before you know it, it is trying to sign in again.

I read somewhere that Google Talk is not available in UK which is probably why it can't sign in anyway.

Any help is appreciated, it's driving me nuts.

Hi sorry I don't have a fix but I can tell you that Google Talk works fine in the UK as I use it regularly and have just signed in again to make sure it is working today. I presume you have you Google account correctly synced with your phone?

Thanks very much for responding. Yes, I have calendar, contacts and email sync'd and have chat turned on in google mail cloud as well.

Same problem as antipesto here.

I changed my email address from @googlemail.com to @gmail.com and that caused this error. It wouldn't let me change my Google account settings without a factory reset.

EDIT: Adding a new Google account with the gmail.com allows you to delete your other without a reset.

Are you able to download apps from the market if you cant sign into talk?

Just been to check it out. I seem to be getting Market hanging on the download page.

Coming to think of it, I did change over from googlemail to gmail, bugger..... I was thinking I hadn't done that yet.

I'll try changing back and see what that does.

Yeah the market won't download anything if you are not signed into talk, its because it requires a shared service I believe.

Update - I changed my gmail back to googlemail on the cloud. Back to the Desire and bugger me Talk signed in. Back to Market and it downloaded fine.

I went back to the cloud only to find it was still on gmail, but everything still works on the Desire.

I'll update the thread if it causes a problem again.
