Root DarkSlide 4.2 installation question

Android Expert
Aright, I have Apex 1.3.1 installed and running smooth and got it all backed up now. I want to try DarkSlide 4.2, but after looking at the instructions I had a question. Here is a list of the instructions:

Install:
Bootstrap recovery
Mount System
Wipe data/factory reset (if all ready on DarkSlide there is not a need to do this step)
Install from zip
choose zip
choose DarkSlide
Install
Reboot

My question, on installing this ROM it says to 'Mount System'. Is there anymore danger to having to 'Mount System' while installing a new ROM?

I have found that after rebooting with Bootstrap recovery, but does that do anything any different than like installing Apex since you are having to Mount the System. What does mount the system do?

no danger my friend you will be fine ,,,,;)
also to find mount system just scroll to mounts and storage ,,,your first option in there will be mount system select it and it should now say unmount system,,,back out and proceed

Thanks for the quick response. I got past that point earlier and since I did not have to do the mount procedure in Apex, that concerned me a bit.

Thanks again!

Got it installed...like the looks of this one. Got to get all my stuff loaded and setup. This ROM stuff is turning out to be fun :D

Been playing with DarkSlide for a few hours and love it. Got to say, probably my fav now. It is so colorful.

I know a lot of people use Titanium or backup programs like that and also have the market reload apps for them. I'm just the opposite, I just reload each time, I know the apps I use (and the market knows which ones I've purchased) so I just load up the new Rom, download apps as I see fit and set it all back up manually each time. It's nice therapy for me and I get to think twice about that app I downloaded and never used so why reload etc.

and the contacts and calendars reload when you start, right? I've got Titanium and back-up pro and appbrain backups, so should be okay.
I've got to remember that is JUST a PHONE!

Mine do yes because I use Google for contacts and calender so it syncs right up after I log in.

And it sounds like you have everything in order too with your other backups so you should be all set.

Edit:

I usually bypass the activation wizard so I can hook up to my Wifi to get things to sync faster then go to the phone and *228 to activate. Not sure if it's the right thing but I like the faster sync with my google information.

Titanium Pro is how I got them all back. If you spend money for just one program, Titanium Pro needs to be it. It is incredible. You can restore whatever apps you want and which ones you want with data. I would only restore those with data that I just had to. I restored about 3 - 4 apps with data. didn't want to re-enter a lot of stuff in those.
