Root Darktremor App2SD Froyo Testing Thread

Yea it still has a 1Ghz Snapdragon, which blows ours away.

I have 37, yes THIRTY SEVEN apps installed, and im still at 110mb Internel free, thats because I have ADW EX, Fancy Widgets and Widgetsoid installed to internel.

I use Move2sd and froyo method... Im not hurting for space what so ever?
Well So I have about 60+ apps and I have been using this DT Apps2SD
I only have 46 Mb left
I have used cache cleaner and it gave me back 3Mb. I still cant Move apps over to SD the Froyo way. But I havent tried much yet either...
EDIT** Was finally able to move them the froyo way.... didnt seem to help.

Did you move your Dalvik cache to the /cache partition? That frees up a lot of space typically.

Darktremor's app2SD does put strain on the SD card, I can vouch for this. But on the other hand, some phones don'T have a choice of using Darktremor's script because App2SD is limited. I do agree that using an alternative App2SD solution is more viable, as this is a generic script that is supposed to work for most phones, thus will include alot of bloat.

As for worrying about SD death, it's a small price to pay for extra space on some devices and with a decent Class 6 card, I've noticed no performance decrease using App2SD. Then again, I'm currently not on an ally so I can't speak for your device. But I do know DT's solution does work and I've been using it for a long time! It's a decent alternative for ROMs that do not have app2sdext and for people who find Froyo's app2sd too limited.

How do you do this?

Ok So I am using DT apps2sd I have around 60+ apps I have about 46 Mb of Space..... left
Now I was able to in tandom use the Froyo Version as well. It said it moved bunches of Mb's to the SD. But when I rebooted.... I had only gained .05 Mb. My theroy is because of DT Apps2sd they were already on the SD so they actually moved from the SD.... well to the SD. So now when I boot the phone It takes about 3 min. for all of my apps to show up. Is there a way to take DT Apps2SD off? Or do you have to redo the whole shootin match. I am not sayin that DT apps2sd is bad I am just wantin to try my options. I certainly havent seen any 300 Mb of free space. LOL I wish.

In terminal

"su

a2sd cachepart"

That will move your Dalvik to the /cache partition.

I'm playing around with DT a2sd as well and have 52 apps installed and 115mb internal storage free.

"a2sd help" - will show a list of available commands.

I think once you have DT's a2sd installed you're going to have to go back to a nandroid or re-flash a ROM.

I could be wrong though, it's happened once before.

Wow!!! um ok that did the trick
Went from 46 Mb to 121 Mb. Only a 75 Mb gain.... thats all.... THATS FRICKEN HUGE IS ALL.

Awesome!!! Thank you!! :D

I don't think you are wrong. That's the only way I could think of to get rid of it.

Again - I would really like to see a screen shot of having 300MB free using DT. I would like to know how to achieve that.

I will show you how to do it......
But first you have to go get me the Holy Grail.
Then well talk. :D

Hello,

The easiest way to remove darktremor is to use the commands that I posted in the OP. No need for nandroid or anything time consuming of the sort.

Just use terminal and do:
adb shell
a2sd remove

Here is another link to the darktremor commands which include all the commands such as cache to sd and dalvik cache to sd commands. Link.

If you dont get alot of space free on your phone with darktremor then you have not made a big enough partition. The recommended partition size is 512mb because there are a lot of cool android app and it will use about that much space. If you want to go Hog Wild then 1GB is recommended.

Mine is 2Gb since I have a 16 Gb Card.
Is that too big?

Having a larger ext will increade boot time a tad bit, and to use froyo ap2sd to its fullest you need an app called Move2Sd Enabler for root users which is located on the root of your sd card

Also 300mb Free Internal is impossible, on my rom the ONLY thing loaded on the phone is the os itself, and im only at 146 internal free.

if you have 50mb free then you are fine, thats enough for the phone to have all the memory it needs.
