Help Data Link is Unavailable error message

I think the 3.7 update caused this occurance. If I am streaming Pandora when a call comes in, I get this screen instead of the normal call screen.

By normal call screen, I mean the big red END CALL button as well as some other buttons to enable mute, speakerphone, or the keypad. I have to hit the back button to get to the call screen, and then everything is OK. Another interesting thing is that this happens when in 3G AND in 4G. So when it happens while in 4G, it's wrong...as the 4G maintains signal during the call.

Has this screen been around since day-1, but I never noticed it? Or did 3.7 have something to do with it? Or is this screen generated by some other app that's running in the background?

Yes, I have the same "notification" screen pop up with each phone call... and btw, this only started with the latest update to ver 2.3.340.MB810... never saw this screen prior to that update. Have you found any settings which would provide... "do not show this message again" functionality?

I'm not sure who's message that is. Is it something generated by Android OS? Is it an HTC message? Or is it a message generated by a 3rd Party app?

The thing that confused me the most was that I get that message when 4G was on. When running 4G, the data link IS ACTIVE even during a call.

So maybe something generates that message without confirming that the link is actually down. In other words, it's automatically generated when a call comes in even if the data link isn't affected.

I have not really tested this while in a WiFi spot though. That will be something I play with tonight perhaps.

I have the same message on a 3G, Motorola Droid-X... so it is likely an android upgrade issue. I have not found a setting in the system setup to remove this message. If I find one or hear back from Moto/Droid support, I'll let you know (they been good in the past admitting their Moto OS wrapper problems vs. Google android problems.)

Did Motorola just roll out an update to the DROID X?

As mentioned, this happened right after HTC put out the 3.7 update to the EVO.

OK, just had an interesting conversation with Moto support who said that the phone needs a complete "Wipe Data/Factory Reset". I will do this in about an hour (after I ensure that I have all my email settings written down, etc.) I'll let you know how it goes.

Omg. That will probably work though it's cleary the most destructive way to fix this problem. I don't know if I'm ready to go that far yet. Can I backup my angry birds progress?

No indication of the source of the error... but they did acknowledge that it was their (Moto) issue... likely shared by other HW vendors who are not staying fully compliant with every Google release.
