Help Data network reconnection problem

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to the Z and to this forum, so pardon me for my newbiness.
hehe.
Well let me explain what the problem is.

I am located in Indonesia and have previously used a blackberry bold 9000 (without any 2G or 3G problems before).
With my BB, I know that (As with any other phone) if you go to a basement you normally would lose your phone signal and hence internet connectivity.
But, once we go up to the ground floor again, the phone would automatically reconnect/search its 2G/3G connection.

Problem:
I recently noticed that with the Desire Z (Build number 1.34.707.5 CL2373326 release-keys), with my network settings to "GSM/WCDMA Auto" , once I go up from the basement, I only get my phone functionalities and NO INTERNET/DATA CONNECTIVITIES at all (No E or 3G icon).
Seems to me that it does not automatically reconnect.
I would then have to choose the "Restart" function from the power button or simply untick and tick the "Mobile network" checkbox from the Wireless&Networks options.

Like any other 'Smartphone', I would assume Desire Z would automatically do it right?

Oh yeah, I am still using the same network provider from when I used the BB. So a network provider issue is unlikely.

What I have done since then:
I tried resetting the Z to factory default, but it still doesn't work.

Does anybody have the same problems with me?
Is this a phone/device issue or is this how HTC created the phone to save battery?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Yeah i have this problem sometimes , and i do as you do , tick and un-tick the mobile networks button , so far this is the solution am using , and i tried to find something else , but nothing.. hopefully an up coming update will fix some bugging bugs lool

Good luck

I recently got a reply from HTC Indonesia saying that this is a known issue and they are trying to fix it.
Once they do, they will roll out the software updates to Desire Z users.

I certainly hope that this is true.

=)

Do you have "Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Enable "always-on" mobile data" enabled? I notice if I don't have this checked, I tend to "shut-down" for lack of a better word, my entire network signal unintentionally by wandering into areas of low coverage and not re-awakening my phone until I leave, keeping me in this quantum state of 4 bars, but no data, until I do a FULL Restart, if I do a Fast or "Hot" Reboot, it continues.

Not sure if this helps, but I dunno. Give it a shot? :p
