hi .. i unlocked my s3 am having serious issues using data after that. i took it into a store where they are now just trying to tell me that it is a hardware issue which of course is just bs .. the phone was working great before i took it in. no problems whatsoever.
First Attempt at unlocking:
they used something called nsteam nspro. They had to root the phone to do this.
result: i couldn't do anything on the phone- no calls,no texts, no data.
second attempt:
i took it back and they ran nsteam nspro again.
result: i could make calls/texts. Data did not work intermittently (about half the time) and it could not get onto LTE. It looked like when it tried to get on LTE, things would stop working - it would show it was connected to LTE but data would not work. I am not sure if this was the trigger though, just an observation.
Third Attempt:
Downgraded from Jelly bean to ice cream sandwich so he could "get the code directly from the phone". Unrooted the phone.
Result: i can make calls, texts but had problems with data. Issues with data. I can no longer get more than 3G. Even that does not work properly without the connection dropping.
Fourth attempt:
They flashed everything and loaded firmware from my carrier. I don't have more details (sadly on any of the processes).
Result: i can make calls, texts but had problems with data. Issues with data. I can no longer get more than 3G. Even on 3G there are intermittent problems where the data connection just drops. It connects to 4G once in while. It rarely works when on 4G.
Tried:
1. Sat down with a friend who has an unlocked S3. My SIM worked fine in his phone. Put his SIM in my phone had the same problems. It is clearly not a carrier/sim issue.
2. Upgraded to Jelly Bean.
3. In the settings, checked the access point, it is definitely on the LTE option.
it's almost like something is "lingering" from attempt 1 that did not get cleared up.
any idea on what i can do to fix this? i don't care if the phone is not unlocked. i just want it to be back to the way it was. i dont' think a factory restore will do it..
Thanks, appreciate any input you guys may have!

. Although the other fix got me back to 4G as well, but then it swapped back to Edge so I'll wait for at least 24 hours before I can confirm it completely fixed. Once again thanks for the response!"
