Help Data usuage and data usage alert

I usually have my phone on vibrate so I have never noticed this issue before.

I have seen that my phone makes a beeping sound every minute or so I did not know what this was but I figured out that it is telling me when data is being used because the beeping went crazy when I was downloading something.

How do I find ut what is using my data every minute? It seems that something is synced but on my accounts and setting everything is off.

Also how do I get the beeping to turn off?

I am using CM7 if that is any help.

Not sure about the beeping... not ever come across that myself.

As for something using data... it could be an app that's doing something in the background and using data??

Try downloading DroidWall - this lets you set up a whitelist of apps that are allowed to access the net and hence use data. I use this and have not let any of the games I have on my DHD have access to the net - it means that anything that's ad supported doesn't have ads in, but it does mean that I can't compare my scores to anyone else (not a big issue for me though).

Hope this helps... like I said, I don't know about turning off ther beeping, but at least it should reduce the amount!! :)
 
Thanks I will give it ago. It is a good idea to disable games (I never use top scores anyway). I might be able to figure out what is using data every minute byy trail and error of turning things on and off
 
You could use TrafficStats with the option show daily every app.
After the "beep" press the refresh button and you will see which app has put on data :)

I found out that the bleeping was a notification tone. I don't know why that was on.

TrafficStats is a good little program there are actually a few things that use data whth me knowing

Droidwall doesn't seem to work properly blocked apps are still using data

Gutted... Sorry - thought it did work. Installed it and haven't really done anything with it. I might have to have a look into if it is working for me, although the games I play don't tend to have any ads in them, so maybe it works some of the time!
 
IM getting beeping from no service. I use my bluetooth for music and podcast at work. At times I have no service so my bluetooth beeps so loudly over my music until I have service again. Very annoying. Tried turning off notifications but still beeping.
 
I use 3G Watch Dog for a total count on my data along with Traffic Stats Lite which lets me know whats using what.
