Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

It's like a child sitting on Santa's lap and he Santa says.. we have under estimated the amount of children wanting toys this year and then the elves have had problems making some of the gizmos that make your toys work. It looks like we are looking at least a five day delay this year. Now if that delay falls on or over the thirty first or first of Jan we might have to add another eight days to that delay. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. The child says.. but Santa.. I talked to a kid who got his goodies early and I clearly heard you tell the kid in front of me that his toys would be there the 25th as promised. And santa looks at the kid and says... that's right kiddo.. you're hosed!

Please let me know where you are filing this so I can send a copy of this post to the local authorities so they can see that you are using our law enforcement and legal system for "show".

Folks, you can not prove the elements of fraud. Criminal charges will have to prove intent AND you wont prove anyone intended to defraud you.

A civil suit for breech of contract may yield you your money back, but anything else is a LARGE waste of time and disgusting.

I have worked in customer service in both manufacturing and distribution. Accurate ship dates are difficult and I guarantee you that Verizon will not have any problems with your complaints. However, if you think getting your phone a day/week late is worth filing a complaint (that is just for show), I hope they make you pay all costs associated.

and I have been on this thread for weeks now. I was a May 28 order and my brother a 6/2 order. I guarantee you I have read more of this thread than you have...... and you are way out of line.

Damn fram just let the man vent... unless you just really that bored i guess, then its ok

and she ALSO confirmed the 5 day delay....i asked if it was for our region, she said she was unsure and that the 5/28 ship date that I was told yesterday may not be solid and it could be pushed back to july...

I'm just so sad. Not only did they not deliver as stated, they have given us faulty info. Bastages!! The plus is that I played up the 'sad' card with a friend and I at least get a ride on the bike and ice cream tonight. Lol.
 
... While all the talk of arrests and criminal complaints is hilarious, they appear to be in violation of FTC Rule, and can be subject to fines and forced to compensate affected individuals. I encourage people affected to go to the FTC website and file a complaint, at least to make Verizon change their procedures, so this doesn't happen again in the future.

I will second this. The citizens arrest etc stuff is way over the top, and good for a laugh and a giggle but it does not negate the fact that, by the plain language of the law, Verizon does appear in violation of FTC "mail and phone" order rule. It requires that persons affected by shipping delays for goods for which payment has been taken, in full or in part, are kept informed about any delays and, if the merchants is unable to fulfill the order by the initial ship-by date, the merchant must offer certain redress options. Unfortunately those options are limited to (1) prompt information about a new ship-by date if the merchant (Verizon in our case) has reasonable basis to believe that they will be able to ship by that time, or information that Verizon does not know when they will be able to ship if no such reasonable basis exist, and (2) option to cancel our orders.

As far as I know, there's no such communication from Verizon to anyone (certainly not to me and, as a 6/3 order, I am very much in the affected group), so they appear to be squarely in hot water. This, is, sadly, a "so what" situation - none of it helps us get our phones any sooner. I'm as irritated as the next 6/3 order in line, but the reality is that whether or not Verizon is violating the rules about notice and cancellation offers for backordered goods, Verizon can't send out stuff they do not have. I hate the situation but I'm not about to cut off my nose to spite my face - having waited this long, I don't think I want to cancel my order now.

Talk to me next week though if the phone is still not here, and I might be sporting a snazzy new iPhone 4 after all.

i have only said it to my family (and they've learned to nod appropriately and not actually listen i think) and one friend at work. otherwise i was getting the feeling this might happen as we got closer and figured i could use it to my advantage somewhere. a bit sneaky but not harmful. :p

verizon should just pay for our plane tickets to one central location for the night so we can drink and complain the night away
 
Im a 6/6 i just talked to a CSR and he said that they just recieved updated shipping cards on all the east coast and that 6/6 order dates are still scheduled to ship on 6/28 as promised.

Ordered: 06/07
Promised Shipping: 06/28
Still promised Shipping: 06/28
State of residence: Utah

Called VW (Following conversation may be slightly paraphrased)

CSR: Hello... blah blah blah

ME: Please-o-please tell me you haven't lost my order.

CSR: Nope, got it right here.

ME: Great, tell me when you're going to ship it.

CSR: Well, we just got new shipping instructions yesterday, let me check... Looks like you're still on for 06/28 ship with overnight shipping.

ME: Okay, thanks.


Edit: Oh, BTW, The phone was ordered online... in the AM
 
Okay, WTF?? I'm at work and my boss actually gave me something to DO! :eek: It's Friday, and doesn't he realize I'm busy refreshing this thread every 10 minutes to see if anyone's gotten any GOOD news?? Rat bastard!! ;)
 
Any 6/2, 6/3, 6/4 people out there that have received their shipping confirmation? Today is my day (6/4) for shipping....but I'm not going to hold my breath.
At best they are a day behind, 6/2 - 6/23, received shipping info on 6/24. Overnight shipping... due on my porch by 3 pm:D:D
