Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

Anyone with an airbill/fedex account will have a tracking number to give the recipient before fedex actually processes the package. The tracking numbers are printed far in advance. In Verizon's case, they don't use airbills, but the same principles apply. They have a fedex account, and when they setup a shipment, they get a tracking number before it even gets into fedex's hands.

Correct. And since today is a holiday, FedEx shouldn't actually pick it up from the warehouse until tomorrow. An overnight shipment packed by the warehouse today will physically ship tomorrow for delivery Wednesday. I could be wrong about them not picking up today, but don't be surprised.
 
can we steer a bit closer to the topic? more postings about order dates and shipping notifications, less "do you think i'll get it absurdly sooner than you all have?" questions. I know people are anxious (believe me, I am too) and thus want any and all speculation, but it's getting a bit difficult to see the overall shipping trends when facts are being drowned out by wishful thinking.

I was told when I placed the order that my acct would not be billed until the phone shipped. I got my bill yesterday....due 6/20---guess what is listed on my bill as due on 6/20...yup. . . the incredible. I called and gave them what for. I was told "I don't know who told you that, but as soon as a phone is ordered, it is listed on the bill. Sorry for the misinformation.":mad:

I ordered mine on 5/18 and my billing cycle ends on the 13th of every month. I was told that because I ordered AFTER my billing cycle had ended, that it would show up on my July bill. I received my June bill and it is not on there. I ordered mine over the phone, and the CSR told me that they 1. Cannot bill your account until the phone ships and 2. That the only way it would appear on my June bill is if I would have ordered it on June 12th. Seems to me like that CSR just didn't want to credit your account, or you ordered before the end of your billing cycle.

You're not wrong. They're off work on Memorial Day. I work for FedEx.

I ordered at a store on May 19th - no word yet.

BTW, we switched our business account to a personal account and because we are now "new" Verizon customers (even though we have been with Verizon since the early 90's), we had to pay for our new phones outright. Didn't really matter to us though because we put them on a credit card. I just checked the card online and, of course, both phones were added on the 19th. Whatever... I just want my phone!!
 
Well I just can't wait till tomorrow. SHIPPINGS BEGIN AGAIN!!!!!. Ordered mine 5/17 by phone. At that time the webisite said shipping by 6/1. I have spoken to VZW over the phone and by email and get the same result. "Your order will ship by 6/7." I hope the website is right but either way 5/15s have been getting their notice so I can't be to far away.
 
Ordered 5/13 with a 6/1 shipping date. I'm guessing this isn't going to happen since I haven't heard a word since.
 
They do offer free overnight shipping. If you order online use the code FREEOVERNT. If the store places the order for you, they have a special free overnight code to use, clearly posted for them on Infomanager.

There was no code option online that I could see . So at checkout if the phone is out of stock the only options I had free was two day. I'm guessing that is what most also found since it seems everyone's is coming two day unless they paid for next day.

Anyways I shouldn't have to enter any secret code for free shipping just because they are out of stock. It should still come the same way it would have if it was in stock, that being free over night.

FWIW, ordered my DI through Wirefly on 5/14 and it shipped 5/29. Great deal too on 2 sweet phones... DI $150 + Moto Droid $20 - $100 Bing cash back = $70. Happy camper.
 
So I went into the Verizon store, the one where I ordered the phone, today and they gave me a 12 digit FedEx number. However, when I check on FedEx's website, it says the number isn't found. The representative claimed that the phone hasn't shipped yet, so how could they give me a FedEx number without it having at least been entered into FedEx's system to go out?

Ordered through Wirefly.com on 5/20, got a confirmation with a fed ex tracking #. It's sitting at Fedex in KY (and i'm in OH!), looks like either today or tomorrow I'll be getting it.

Which that makes sense to me. What would not have made sense was them having a number without the item being packed and ready to ship. As it is, I checked fed ex's site with my number this morning and today it was picked up for shipment. Coming from West Chester, PA to NYC and expected delivery of 6/3.

Hmm wouldn't it be better placed on the order page. Either way like I said it should DEFAULT to next day, and not require some code to get it, since it's standard next day if it was in stock. Besides that code is only if you order before 4:30 for some reason. probably the cut off for next day but what that has to do with an order that won't ship for 3 weeks is beyond me.

Oh well what's one more day :cool:
 
A few 5/17+ orders seem to be trickling out...

Hopefully this is a good sign that I will receive mine before the weekend. Ordered on 5/17 in store.

I ordered in store and have my receipt right in front of me. There is no tracking number on it - just a 6 digit order number. I've tried every way possible to track it with that number. Doesn't work. We need a true FedEx tracking number and from what I've read on here, we won't get that 'til the DI is shipped and we receive an email.

BTW, my receipt says, "FEDEX 2DAY 7PM" so I, for some reason, did not get the overnight shipping like you did.

They say patience is a virtue... :)

I ordered mine in store, and no, the tracking number is not on the receipt. The only "tracking" information you can gain from the receipt is to try to piece together a reference number from the information on it.

I've posted the method a couple times before:

1) Get your receipt from your purchase at the store
2) Locate the location code for that store - mine was something like: 0707601
3) Locate the order number - mine was 6 digits
4) Go here: https://www.fedex.com/AltRefTracking
5) In the reference number, fill in the information using this template:

[location code]_000[order number]

And keep in mind that the part "000[order number]" has to be 9 digits. If your order number is 5 digits, put 4 zeros where I have 3. If it's 7 digits, add 2, and so on.

So the template is location code, underscore, zeros, order number - all with no spaces

If it doesn't work, it could be one of two things:
1) It hasn't shipped yet and VZW hasn't even gotten it ready to ship, or
2) It just doesn't work. Some people's reference number hasn't followed this template. 99% have, if I had to guess. But not ALL.
