Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

Yah, it's kinda like the parent-child relationship. We hate them when they punish us but a treat resolves all issues. We hate Verizon...until they pull off the incredible and send us a treat!Iam starting to hate verizon every hour i dont have my Dinc!!!!!!!!

That's only for orders that are placed right now. If you already ordered, your estimated ship date hasn't changed.
What this means simply is that they haven't been able to catch up. They are still running approx. 1 month behind. Until they get the SLCD up and running and start selling those, I am sure they will continue to have this delay.
Sadly, once the Droid X is released (and even the Fascinate) HTC will probably see fewer orders. I think people are more likely to go with the phone that is in stock over the one that takes a month to get, even if they don't like it quite as much. And I'm sure the Verizon reps will be pushing what they actually have instead of whats on backorder
HAHAHAHAH I just got my shipping notification, this was very unexpected, they actually shipped it yesterday and it'll get here the 12th, thing is they told me when I ordered it 6/18 that it wouldn't even ship till the 13th...

And I want to issue you a huge THANKS! Because if a 6/18 just went out, it means that my hope of them shipping my phone by Wed (I'm a 6/19) is not completely wasted!!

Words can not express how livid I would be if this happened to me. I am so sorry
My switch to Verizon was quick and painless. Of course, that was 9 years ago and with a Nokia that was in stock. As much as you want to, I wouldn't give up on Verizon just yet. AT&T service blows. Honestly, I have never once had a problem with Verizon, ever. This is the first phone they have ever had this problem with and it seems to have thrown them for a loop. I am confident that once this backorder mess is over they will go back to normal.
Here's what I would do. Call back and demand to speak to a manager. Cancel your order with them. Just flat out cancel it. Make sure you get an email confirmation that it was cancelled. Force the guy to stay on the line until you receive the email if you have to.
Then just order from Amazon. They seem to be able to keep up with their demand and people are reporting getting their phones within a week (one guy got it in a day!).
I know it sucks to have to go this route and no, you really shouldn't have to do this. It shouldn't be this hard. But just take a deep breath and do what you have to do to take care of it. Sometimes, you just have to take matters into your own hands.
And make sure they are aware that they have just lost a sale thanks to their BS. It probably won't amount to anything, but it just might.

That does stink, but you know for some reason I'm not jaded at all by the wait.. not that you seem to be but unless my phone comes all messed up then I'll consider the anticipation as a good thing. And after seeing a SLCD screen recently somewhere I forget where I don't think I'll even be upset if it comes with the new screen. TBH i'll just be glad to get rid of my current phone forever

I'm with you Highdef & Voyagerlvr (do you really love your voyager? haha) I ordered 6/26, we have a few more weeks.. I'm hoping maybe a shipping notice for us 3 maybe a week from today? If not maybe next wednesday the latest? I hope!

I called Verizon a couple days after placing my order because I wanted to confirm that the order would be shipped to my house and not the store.
Anyway, I asked how I would get a shipping notification. She said that the rep didn't put our email address in when the order was placed (and check some box) but that she'd add it for me. She also put in a note to send a text when the phone ships.
And then she, very honestly, said that while she did both of these things that it's likely I still won't get any confirmation. She said their system was very screwy about this and really only works correctly with online orders. She also commented that it's never been a priority to fix the issue since they have never really had a back order like this.
So hey, at least she was honest about it!
So basically, I just plan to call them 3-4 times a day starting next Tuesday! And do the 611 trick, though I am not sure it will work on the secondary line. I'm not about to bug my fiance (who has the primary line) to do it on his since he already thinks I am crazy enough!

LOOK, when I grew up I couldn't get excited for Christmas and Easter anymore, reality stole that from me. So help me god nobody can take away Tax return and random gadget excitement.. nobody!

And I thought I was the only one who got excited over tax time? I always get a refund so I love doing my taxes.
Gadgets excite me a lot. But I am one of the few "real girl" nerds. Build my own PC's and everything. I remember getting pretty excited for my Kindle but I love to read and I had been wanting one for months.
Easter never did do it for me. I wasn't much of a candy eater so a basket full of chocolate bunnies just wasn't anything to get excited over.
I am pretty much over Christmas and have been since I was 15 or 16. I see it more as a kids holiday. I am sure when I have kids of my own I will start to enjoy it again.
Birthdays don't do it for me either. Why the hell do I want to be older? That stopped being cool when I was 16 and got my drivers license. I was already smoking and drinking whenever I wanted, so it's not like I was super anxious to hit 18 or 21.
