Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

For people who don't want to wait till Tuesday like me I just called FedEx and if the package gets to your local distribution center and is all ready for delivery out on Tuesday you can go and pick it up Friday. Some centers are even open Saturday so there's a good chance it'll be ready by then. Just track your package and then call FedEx's 1-800 number and they can tell you if you'll be able to go get it.

Not to be a debbie downer but I dont think that is correct. I was told the same thing for a package I was expecting, went to Fed Ex and they laughed me out the building. Packages at the distro centers that are not yet at their delivery date are caged for sorting. They will not go in there looking for your package. The only way you can pick it up is if they have attemtped to delivery it and nobody was home.

You can always try, and I hope you are succesful, just be ready to be frustrated.

Hey guys, I order may 14 and got confirmation today at 8:09 am. New customer. Pay in full at the store around 1pm may 14.

Delivery: may 28 by 7:00
Coming from: west chester,pa
* good luck everybody!!!!

Congrats yast26. Just another nail in my coffin.

On a side note, it is bothering me that this is bothering me so much. I think it has turned into a 'fairness' issue for me now over and above an 'I want my phone NOW' issue.

I second that. (hope I'm wrong though)

My understanding is that the only way they can release it to you is if the shipper (Verizon) authorizes a location pickup. I have been unsuccessful at carrying my happy butt into FedEx and asking nicely for them to sort through hundreds of packages to find my sweet lil device. Oddly enough, they don't care. lol

She said something about if it wasn't freighted yet (I didn't quite catch it) I wouldn't be able to. That's why she said to call the number first to see if it'd be ok to pick it up.

Well good luck to you, hopefully you can get it before the long holiday weekend! :)

When I ordered my Nexus One from Google the day it was released, it was scheduled to be delivered to my house on a day that I couldn't be there. I called FedEx and told them the situation and they flagged my shipment for facility pickup - no problem whatsoever.

I think the key to this method is to call Fedex well before the shipment arrives at your local facility. Once it's at the facility, it gets sorted and put in a stack of shipments to go on to a specific truck - their documentation already states that the box is in that batch and that truck should have control over that box. Of course they aren't going to go back there, dig through the stack to find your box, find that driver's manifest and mark it off... That would be way too much trouble for FedEx to do.

Once a truck arrives at the sorting facility, they scan every package and put it where it goes. If you can call early enough to get your package flagged for facility pickup, there is no extra sorting needed. The truck arrives, your package is unloaded and scanned, and put into a stack for facility pickup.

At least that's how it has worked for me in the past.

Here's to hoping!

That would make perfect sense. Make sure you call well before hand!

The problem here is Verizon's delivery instructions. FedEx told me unequivocally that they HAVE to first attempt delivery to the shipping address PER Verizon. They were not allowed to 'override' those instructions and set it for facility pickup absent instructions from Verizon.

Again, I hope that it works for you but as garment69 said, 'Be prepared to be frustrated'.

Oh I guess that does make sense since I didn't mention it was from Verizon or what it was.

I guess when its at the center I'll call and explain everything so I don't waste 20 minutes driving out to FedEx.

I dont know if it will help, but I would also call Verizon and see if the can contact Fed Ex to allow for pickup. I think this only works if the package has not been shipped yet, but it doesnt hurt to try.

good luck.

Absolutely. Go get 'em and let us know if it works. We'll all be rooting for you!

Well I don't even have shipping confirmation yet and can't find it on fedex tracking site using the reference number - so I'm fairly certain mine hasn't even been shipped yet... so, maybe someone ELSE will have luck with that method...

At this point, I'm starting to think the factory workers at HTC probably haven't even assembled my device...

No shipping confirmation yet, can't located on fedex's website via reference number (using the template posted above - [location code]_00[order number]).

I wasn't successful trying that either, before i got the shipping email.

My original order number is not the order number VZW used.
My shipment email had a "Sales Order" number that was totally different from the original order number I got. And it was the sales order number that was used in the shipping reference.

That's why trying to track by reference didn't work for me before I got the shipping email.

But it did work for some, so here's hoping.

Depending on your order number, you might have 2, 3, or 4 zero's. There should be 9 digits after the underscore.

But I could be completely wrong, because my reference number comes up with nada for the time being.

d'oh! That worked! Had to have 3 zeros to give me 9 digits. Unfortunately, that only brings up my shipping information for the Moto Droid that was ordered at the same time, and was delivered on the 20th...

Now what...

**Update** Like others I still have not rcv'd the shipping email and was unsuccessful tracking via ref # so i called VZW, spoke w/the very pleasant and helpful Ashley who informed me that my DInc shipped TODAY and provided me w/tracking #. (yes, the adjectives describing Ashley would have been different had she not given me good news...)

Ordered: 5/12 (after hours so 5/13)
Ship date: May 27, 2010
Estimated delivery: May 28, 2010 by 4:30 PM
Destination: Hernando County, FL
Shipping From: Memphis,TN

The reference number should be the location code "_" order number. Mine is:

P175401_000###### (# being my order number, 6 digits).

This totally worked for me. Mine was purchased instore on 5/12, took the order location off the receipt and added 3 zeroes and my order number M309501_000XXXXXX Now I can stop calling the store (where I wasn't getting answers anyway).

Ordered 5/12
Shipped 5/27
Delivery 6/1 (Boo)
Shipping From Memphis to Minneapolis, MN

What I've learned from this...1. In store orders can ship up to two days later than online orders. 2. In sotre orders ship 2nd day and online orders ship next day usually. Difference of 3 days would have been huge for my anxiety!

Good luck people!

I used the ref number and then got an email shortly after I had checked.

ReferenceP120801_000######

P120801 is the store number located at the top of the receipt and then it's _000 followed by your order number.

I just called FedEx and they told me to call back once the package has arrived at my local FedEx warehouse. What do you guys think?
