Help De Branding

OK, you have the 2.1 on your phone for about a week or so, but have any issues popped up? You said you were rooted and debranded, correct? Before I take the leap of faith, I want to make sure that every thing is functioning as it should with no glitches or hiccups along the way or after the loading of 2.1. So please fill me in MIM122..

Are there anyother USA/AT&T users out using 2.1 successfully? If so, how did you do it and any issues or hiccups, even a little tiny one they maybe you just blew on by...???

No issues.. that I can think of...I had saved my apps with "Appsaver" to my SD card... just restored em all with the same app after upgrading... had saved my contacts to the SD card.. restored em by importing them from SD card... same with text msgs. Phone runs smoothly.. No problems with 3g.. its there - there's a app you should get called APN Backup & Restore as well.. then with the called APPsaver, you can just restore your internet settings using APN Back & restore. Get APPsaver & APN Backup & Restore BEFORE you debrand, so you will have a way to save both your apps & APN settings on your SD card. Both of those apps are available on the market FREE. :)

Good luck! :)

No problem.. You do need to unrar the file w winrar.. you can download it free. Then its just a matter of extracting it. There are 2 files inside the archive. The bigger one goes in App software, the smaller one in customization.

Read my PM for my copy of the email I recvd validating my time license. It cotains the resellers email address as well. If you haven't gotten your validation email (and remember I said check your spam folder - my email client ditched it as spam) So you can email the reseller if you haven't gotten your validation email.

Sorry for all the trouble you are having Charylee, I wish I could be more help.
Thanks you are a great help. I did un rar the files but they don't show up as compatible files.

The license part is my fault. Once I get that sorted out, I will uninstall and start over.

Thanks. again

MIM, I know you are DEBRANDED, but are you ROOTED as well? I know that if you root you void your warranty (The hinge pin that keeps me from jumping into the fray), but if you DeBrand, does that also void your warranty?

I am now de-branded, rooted and 2.1! This thing looks sweet on 2.1! I had read people having issues, but you think there werent issues with 1.6 originally?

Hey Gunny, I think if you de-brand you can always re-brand if you have a warranty claim.

Sorry, yes, I am rooted. If worse comes to worse, you can reload. the AT&T firmware if you have to return your phone for repair...yes, I suspect having generic firmware would void your warranty I have seen the ATT files floating around in one of the many forums I am member of.. Bet X10iuser can point you to those files somewhere free.. he seems to know things! :p

FOmnius has the at&t FW for flashing, but one has to pay $4.91 or do to use it.: D
If they have an AT&T 2.1 rom then AT&T must have released it, if they've released it you can use THIS to debrand, and THIS to flash back to the AT&T rom should you need or want to, for free.

No not a 2,1 , the original 1.6 if anyone wanted to come back to it for warranty purpose.

So AT&T still has nothing out there and no one has developed an AT&T 2.1 scheme yet, am I correct? I would probably do it, but with my luck, I would need repair service the next day and would than be toes up stiff as a board and out of luck.. So, I wait..

Come on AT&T, even though you say it may never happen and 2.2 will definately never happen, you can still redeem yourselves and win loyalty points to boot. the other direction is however the way your heading with no one at the wheel..

I am all done, debranding, upgrading, restoring, and rooting.

Thank you so much mlm122 for all your help and patience :)

You are welcome.. many ppl have helped me as I get used to the Android platform, so I was just paying it forward.:)

Personally, I got rid of moxier, quadrapop and some of the foreign keyboards.. there's probably alot more you can safely ditch.. but I would do some more reading if I were you 1st.

Also, if you are talking about deleting system apps, you know you need to root before you can do that, right? I used z4root on 2.1, x10root on 1.6.

Which brings the question : have you done your SEUS update to 2.1? I know Omnius only has 1.6 firmware last time I checked.

Woo.. wish there was a high5 button.. nice going charlyee... enjoy freedom from the tyranny of AT&T and even some SE bloatware :)
Thanks, the only thing that didn't restore are my bookmarks, not a bigee and my Profile Manager app is not playing nice.

Almost like getting a new phone, luv it :D
