deactivate the magnetic dock trigger-Milestone X

hi all.
Milestone X on Cellcom network in Wisconsin; my first smart phone and I'm having a blast with it.
In my quest to find the 'perfect' belt holster I've tried a couple with magnetic closures. a little reading in these forums led me to understand the magnet(s) activate the multimedia dock mode. long story shortened brings me to two questions:

1- is there a way to deactivate the magnetic response, i.e. use a magnetic holster without turning on dock mode?

2- when I hold the magnet near the phone the clock/media media pops up, but there is a message saying "Problem loading widget". I have a menu widget called "CarDock" which works as described elsewhere, but I have no widget relating to any multimedia/clock. am I missing something in the menu?

thanks,
Mike

OP, check the market, I think there are a couple apps that control the "Dock" app which you are refering to. If you are rooted, you can go in and delete the APKs...

Edit: here is one.... https://market.android.com/details?id=com.megagram.docknoop

thanks. tried that one and it sort of worked, but not completely.
rooted the phone today with super one click. it said successful, but mounted a read-only file system. using ghost commander as my file manager I am unable to rename or delete the .apk files from root:/system/app.

suggestions?

thanks
Mike

Root Explorer should allow you to mount the folder as RW.However, it is preferable to rename the .apk to .bak rather than delete.

following up to my own post-

installed Root Explorer which gave me the permissions I need. did a search for "dock"- found
/system/app/CarDock.apk
/system/app/CarDock.odex
/system/app/Dock.apk
/system/app/Dock.odex

renamed the 2 .apk files to .bak files, rebooted.
it doesn't load either dock app, but the magnet in the holster still lights up the main lock screen. I guess I have to give up on the holster with magnetic closure and stick with the crummy velcro holster.:(

thanks for the help if there are no other suggestions.

Mike

following up to my own rambling-

yep, NoDock did the trick. I paid for it, does precisely what I want. I tried the other dock apps but none got it totally right.
thanks everyone.
