Come on people, if I wanted to hear about the Nexus One or HD2, I would have joined the girl scouts. The Eris is the best phone for many reasons, mainly because of the small footprint it will leave on this earth. Since the devs aren't working on rooting the Eris, that will save a lot of energy that would have been used to power the computers. So thanks for thinking about the earth devs!!!

Hello, welcome to Android Forums. You are now part of a group of people that I like to label as "bad first posters". Thanks for your GREAT first 2 posts! Keep it up! ;)

Acidbath,
I haven't read into it yet but can you dual boot the hd2 with android yet? a rooted android? Then just running a copy of sense and you have a sick phone... maybe amoled might step it up a notch? I have the old htc vogue booting into android.

Anyone use amoled phone? is the battery any better or just the contrast?

I havent really tried dual boot on it yet, been still in awe with it in general :)
I do have Dual boot going on my TP2 though, but it is usally just nicer to solo boot and run haret.exe.
pretty full functioning as well, wifi and phone and all that, still crap with the sms though, but that a work in progress.
I think that I will just trade out my HD2 once i know for sure whetther or not it will get WinMo 7 series upgrade :)
But if I could dual boot sense and winmo 6.5.5 and then boot up a Android 2.1 cake....my god I would be the happiest man alive!

I thought it was funny, don't worry lol

Devs are still working in the IRC channel. Stop in if you have any help to offer or even to follow along.

Thanks for your hard work acidbath. Fingers still crossed it gets rooted, but if the rumors are true about the Nexus One on March 23rd, I believe I will be saying bye bye to my little Eris.

well ive already decided to get the N1 when it comes to big red so i guess i can finally unsubscribe from this thread. its been a real rollercoaster ride and its been fun seeing peoples response in this thread. acidbath and the rest of the dev team i wish you good luck and hope that you guys get this phone rooted soon.

and for all the people who get their panties all in a bunch because the devs havent rooted this thing yet, just remember they dont have to do squat for you, so be polite and wait patiently like everyone else. not to say that this happens in this board alot, we all seem to get along here pretty well and understand that this is not an easy task. GOOD LUCK GUYS

Well depending on whether or not Incredible gets the same RAM as the desire...I am more leaning over towards N1. However if Incredible gets the boost in RAM as the desire, I am going to get incredible and turn off sense and run the extra RAM!!! Good Idea ehh? ehh?!!! LOL!!! I am not to worried about having noise cancellation seeing how I have dealt with NOT having it MY WHOLE life! More RAM is more important to me! So I would like to say THANKS TO ALL THE DEVS and everybody else who helped contribute to this cause! ACIDBATH: Semper Fi Brother and to those who I have missed!

For now though I am a loyal eris fan...

Then when people get the N1 it will be the elusive N2...N15000...it goes on and on but I can't afford to follow it so I get what's out in December of this year and whatever is greatest the year after that...

this is why you have to have two people with verizon accounts lol!
me personally...i use my and my moms upgrade :)
she just wants a phone to dial out on. me, i need the latest and greatest. so based on our upgrade schedule, i can upgrade every year :)
im going to break it next year and buy one full price (after selling my desire or n1, whatever i get this year). then i`ll get to the point where i can upgrade every six months for that year (yep i got it all planned out lmao!).
god i love these toys!! :)

Oh what a sick bas...wait...I need a plan too! :p

I have two lines also one is for my broadband card, I've used that account to upgrade before. Works out really nice, I think that account is eligable for an upgrade in May or June. Which is when I plan on upgrading to whatever is out at that point, damn these phone companies have my balls in a vise grip haha

Exactly, My Future Mother in Law's line is going to get me my next Phone :)

I hope the Dev team will come though with a root for the Eris. i just dont want this to turn out like my BB storm1 were it fell off the map after 6 months. LOL. Come on NAPPY ROOTS.

Learn to be a dev and perhaps you can help them come through with a root.

This may be an ignorant question, but where do you even learn these skills at?

I remember in school takin a class on Basic programming (must have been about 14 years ago) and creating some basic games and programs that I use to use on my TI83 Graphing Calculator (haha can't believe I remember that thing)

If anyone knows a good basic web page that teachs more about it that would be really cool to look into

No offense, but by the time someone could learn the necessary skills, the Eris will be long obsolete. If someone decides today to "be a dev" and do root the phone, they're either a genius or had dumb luck.

What really helped me was downloading an ubuntu enviornment and messing around with that.
Head over to XDA and check out the old G1 and Hero Root and Discussions...

Great thanks for the links .. I'm not saying I want to become a Developer and try to Root my Eris obviously I don't think I could jsut pick up and do that especially since I'll be treading up in the very near future anyways.

But it would be great just understand more about the Android phones since I see myself stickign with Android for the long haul. It's just amazing software to me
