I'll join the bandwagon, Thanks so much guys/gals for your time and effort put into rooting the Eris. We all greatly appreciate it!

Darn... bandwagons suck.... oh well much appreciated devs keep up the good wrk. Lets get this thing rooted!!! If I knew how to help I would...

Yep...eagerly looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor. Thanks devs for working on this for all us non-phone-tech-savy people. Your effort is greatly appreciated.

Acidbath, please make sure that you guys set up a method to donate when your site goes live. Many of us will want to say thanks for the work that you put into this and we can at least help with the bandwidth costs of your site.

So if your willing to "Pay for root" couldn't that be classified as solicitation?

Man, I crack myself up.

Band wagon, on the wagon, off the wagon, wagon wheel, station wagon, RED wagon. Wagon train-thats it,we have a wagon train good luck & God bless the Rooters one and all:D

ok so wait, clear up my confusion......

we get root for 1.5 today, then say hypothetically 2.x is released say tomorrow, and say i ota update it. will that then make root not work, in theory?

or am i just wrong?

not completely sure, but from what i read, if you are rooted you won't get the OTA....i could be wrong though...

if you DO get the 2.x OTA after rooting at 1.5, and it DOES install, then i would say you are back at square 1 for root as in you no longer have root....but you do have 2.x

ya thats what i thought.....

if we root then we would have to use the 2.x rom cuz your phone would basically no long exist in a kind of way

Seems to me that once a phone is rooted, any ROMS for it will be based on much more current Android builds. You'll no longer care about (nor want ?) updates from your carrier.

I have to wonder (worry) about what happens if the carrier has to push a "fix" that's unique to their own network and therefore proprietary. People with rooted phones won't get those, their phones may not work properly, and they have no recourse other than going back to the carrier's build. This wouldn't be something that the ROM builder could add in either since VZW or HTC (in our case) does NOT have to release the code.

Developers will most likely be working off of the latest HTC released source. They could also incorporate parts of AOSP which would be more up-to-date with bug fixes. Don't worry, with root, bugs have the potential of being fixed a lot sooner then if a carrier was to release a fix.

Thank you guys so much for all the support!
I know that it is greatly appreciated :)
Our Devs are working hard and following up on every exploit imaginable.
Sorry I cant answer some more questions, gonna be a long day at work, by work I mean actual real life job...lol.

Thanks again :)

Cyanogen...?? i think, i really dont know, but wanna know ;)

Cyanogen won't be working with the droid eris nor will his versions be compatible. But once we have root we can incorporate many of his and other devs optimizations.

As far as rooting as easy as the iphone jailbreaking process- it really depends on the method of root we end up with.

If you had a hero they have pre-kitchen 0.2 which basically is basically an auto-root but for the first rooters like us we will have manually type the code and push the ROM to the root of the sdcard and flash it,

Just wanted to share my appreciation to all the devs working on this root!

I cant wait to get rid of footprints, stocks, quickoffice and peep!
Im also excited about bootloader access and overclocking!
I want my eris to be FAST!

I have a question though.
With root access, will it give you the ability to INSTALL and RUN apps to/from the SD card? Instead of taking up valuable phone memory?
