The update really does mean a lot. I think people here stray off topic the most when there hasn't been an update in a while. ....Go Devs!! You're almost there; I can feel it!

This thread reminds me of a lot of folks waiting in line for a long time for the release of something or other at a store, or a very popular anticipated movie or concert to open.. the folks start yammering about all sorts of things to pass the time until the gates/doors or tent flaps open.. then there's a collective screech or two and silence befalls them as they trickle in and behold what they all came for.

The update really does mean a lot. I think people here stray off topic the most when there hasn't been an update in a while. Not because they don't think progress is being made, but because they have no clear evidence of what is being worked on.

This is exactly right. Yea we are all waiting for root and 2.1, but in the meantime while acidbath and the amazing dev team are hard at work some of us like to keep our technology spirits up.
SORRY to ANYONE who feels that we've gotten off topic but DO NOT take a rude tone to anyone who has helped forum members such as smacky

now that i've said what i wanted. can someone stop this snow?

I think its more sarcasm to our situation than actually being rude. It's hard to read the emotion behind people's posts.

Who is being mean to smacky now? Oh, how rude! lol Edited: [I see...Bad mouth]

Let it snow let it snow...let it snooooooooowwwwwwww! :D

1) Mods can't follow every thread. 2) The mods here may be very "hands off". 3) No one has complained, i.e. hit the "Report post" button.

Yes.

I'm about to go through and review this page of the thread. Being disrespectful to people around you is what I hate the most. And it's a fine line, and also a dynamic line, what is okay and what isn't.

We take things on a case by case basis. In this case I will do what I do warning/infraction/pm wise and you'll know what you'll get if you get it.

Please keep all future replies respectful and polite to each other. Staying on topic is usually one of the things I say in situations like this - but as another user said, this is one of those threads where you're biding time waiting for an update, and so long is most the people seem okay with it - I'm not going to enforce it. At least not at the moment.

SO again. Keep future replies respectful to others around you. Don't pick - or get sucked into - fights.

Thanks.

It will be funny when we do get root because everyone will go through the process and some will get stuck. The thing is that when the ones that have questions ask them the ones with answers will be busy continuing the root process. Like someone said before but in reverse it will be like a fire drill where everyone will leave the room and casually walk back in after they are done running out. We are less like the ones waiting to get in and more like one waiting to get out.

Ah, no one was being, I don't think. It's just that we're not going to stay on topic 100% of the time. Cars and crude jokes will make their way on to a tech forum that's predominantly guys.

Anyway, I've been imagining what I'd do with a root, either overclock it or actually, underclock it for battery's sake. Try and get a stage 6 SD card if I'm running apps off of it, or just stick with the stock stage 2. So many different things we can do. I'm not sure what's the best thing. Waiting for it to come out and hack and slash my way through to what I want, or strategically plan every thing out. Either way, I got nothing better to do outside of class. Imagine rooting during Anatomy lecture. Then you know you've hit rock-bottom with being a geek.

I have to ask, why does this thread need any discussion anyway ? It could (should) be a sticky post and locked and unlocked/updated as needed. But that's just my opinion...

Your sig, LOL! I am running Home...

Say what? You're running away from home? No I'm running HOME!

I figured it was the best thing for me to run until 2.1 comes out and makes some amendments to some of the performance issues with my phone. I like it the way it is now. Whether it runs faster or slower, I dunno, but it certainly looks neater.

I've never gotten the different stages of SD cards. I know the Eris comes with a stage 2, but can it not run a stage 6 without root? how does one get it to run a 6 after we achieve root?

and what are the differences with the SD card stages?

It's kinda like HDD speed. There are 5400, 7200, and 10,000 rpm hard drives. The speeds means how fast they spin and how quickly data is received and whatnot. Since the SD isn't physically spinning, the stages refer to how fast it performs. Stage 2 is decent, but Stage 6 is a performance-oriented card, for lack of better terms. Any device can run any stage, I think. It's just that if you'll be using the SD card like a hard drive and leaving your phone memory alone, a higher stage will let your phone access data on the card faster so it won't take a while to get to your apps and whatnot.

ah alright. I have a stage 4 SD from an old phone thats only a 4GB instead of the ERIS's 8GB so i was wondering if it'd be worth it to change out the stage 2

i'm determining if it would be wise to. I don't think i have that much data

If you root and run apps off of it, it would definitely be noticeably faster. Plus, there may be new things in our root that would utilize a high-end card. If you don't have that much data to begin with, why not bump down to 4GB and see if the speed increases without a root? Maybe pulling up a video or picture or something takes less time.
