Help Default Calendar Force Close

JLM

Newbie
Anyone else having a problem with the default calendar erroring out? When I try to add appointments or reminders to it, I receive an error message:

"The application Calendar Storage (process com.android.calendar) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

My only opption is to Force Close it, but no matter how many times I've done this, it still errors.

I've been Forever Rooted for a couple months and hadn't had to use the calendar up until now, so I'm wondering if a push came down that would have fixed a known error.

If my only recourse is to hunt down the newest push, I'd rather just pull a calendar from the app store. Any suggestions on a good one?

Thanks, all.

If I'm not mistaken, all calendar apps use the calendar database store that's used by the stock app.

What I would try - knowing that this will lose any calendar events that have not synced, or are in the unsyncable "phone" calendar - is go into (from home) settings->applications->manage applications, find "Calendar Storage", tap it and then tap the button "clear data". See if that solves the force close.

But, if you are still looking for a great replacement calendar in the market, Business Calendar is a great replacement.

Are you running stock ROM or have you loaded another ROM? If not stock, try switching to a different ROM.

I use "Pure Grid Calendar Widget" from the market. It has many more options than the stock one.

Thanks, both of you.

I'm using the stock ROM, SirEagle.

doogald, I went ahead and installed the calendar you reccommended and it seems to be working just fine. I wanted to give it a shot before trying your idea of clearing the data and so far haven't had a problem. And, just to ensure it wasn't an across-the-board problem with all calendars, I opened the stock calendar to try and add an event and the force close issue came right back.

So far I've added four new events to the Business Calendar and have had no hitches. If the problem comes back with this calendar, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks again.
