Root defunct

yea and the guide is soooooo clear
and this had me laughing sooo hard:

Hehe to lighten up the mood for anyone worrying about whether theyll break it. Like it says, I ain't responsible for failure to follow simple directions. If they have any trouble with the written or video tutorial (or god forbid both) they shouldnt be doing this

just a quick word of warning. pdanet drivers dont work for fastboot and sometimes interfere with it. other than that tho it seema like a winner. you could have also packed it with the universal naked drivers from xda those should work too
or seeing as how fastboot wont work on pda net drivera you could just include the zte drivers

Actually, PDANet drivers are the ONLY drivers I installed. I assume that the fastboot drivers probably installed on their own on my system from the phone itself. I didnt have internet at the time I connected for the first time. Unless Win7 had the drivers, PDANet worked perfect for me and another member in the ZTE Awe forum who had already tried the drivers you suggested

Rbheromax, can we use your mirrors for the main downloads and I'll just revise the Awe Tutorial text file I uploaded (if I need to) and you just replace it in the rar so I dont have to wait 4 more hours to upload again lol

I'm gonna test this out now junkie and confirm before I record. If nothing else ill link to the universal driver, but I'm pretty sure thats all I did

Ok. The video is quite a bit longer at around 27 minutes, but I have included an antutu and quadrant benchmark test as well as restoring the phone back to factory condition. When it is uploaded I will add time stamps so you can skip to the important stuff. Sound like a plan?

wqit i just read you out an update.zip in there. ota update file? you know those dont have full roms in then right? it may not work and may even do more harm than good

Again I must exhibit a bit more knowledge at ya junkie. This update.zip DOES include the full rom. It wipes absolutely everything from the phone, including any custom recovery or kernel, and restores the phone back to its original out-of-box condition. How do you think ive returned my phone back these many times to record and rerecord and rererecord and...you get the point. It even deletes all the virgin stuff and the software enhancement update which annoying enough forces you to redownload those after it is flashed. Youll even be greeted with activation and updating the profile and prl. Ive wiped quite a few times for this already, I wouldnt include it if I didnt know what it was. It can't be flashed through cwm though, which is why I included directions for booting the stock recovery to flash the update.zip which also restores the stock recovery for you

Took a nap while it made the video, ended up passing out for longer than I wanted lol. Video is done, need to let it upload overnight again but its almost a gig so it may be up around early afternoon tomorrow.

Actually, this does. It has a backup of every partition on the phone. bootloader, system, recovery, boot, etc. Wipes everything and replaces everything.

I believe junkie2100 is correct, the OTA update is not the full stock ROM as its download was much smaller--I don't remember the exact size but it was under 100MB--when compared with the full stock ROM update.zip (388MB). The OTA update has an updated kernel for sure, with possibly other changes. The 'update.zip' file that dragongart6505 and cooldudezach are referring to is indeed the complete stock ROM, but may not be the OTA update though...
