Root defunct

the update.zip that i put in the rar file IS 388mb. the total size of the rar file is 416mb. this update.zip does not include the updated kernel and Virgin Software Enhancement update that is 73mb that downloads after first time booting the phone.

the update i provided is not the OTA. i never said it was. it is the update.zip from the official website. it is EVERYTHING needed to restore the phone to OOB condition, as i and cooldudezack said before.

i have a backup of the stock rom with the downloaded updates. would anybody be able to take that and make it a signed update.zip compatible with the stock recovery?

btw only 40 minutes left til the video is UPLOADED, still has to go through its processing phase, then i have to add the time-stamps, then the annotations...and then rbheromax can review it and tell me its awe-ful (buh-zing)

yes someone can take it and sign it, they are zte lol. so no otll never get signed. to make rhe update zip you had compatable with cwm tho all you gotta do is remove the assert line in the updater script and boom no more error 7

and i do see why i was confused now. the update zip you got is new to me, no boost device has that. this is the dirst device ive ever seen an update zip like that for, all we ever got were ota patches

lol, well then the file i provided will have to suffice if someone ever needs/wants to return to OOB condition, recovery included

Yeah, oddly enough ZTE has it for download on their website. Only the Awe has it, which is kind of annoying. We should see if there is a way to hot swap the files with ones from the Source/Warp4g to create an update.zip for them. Will the signing be invalid at that point? I'd assume it would be.

the website doesnt even have them? dude, almost EVERY android ive ever owned has had a return-to-stock update.zip posted somewhere on its carriers/brands website.

i assume anything that changes the MD5 (the stock recovery checks it) would make it invalid

the signing would become invalid yes, and no there are no return to stock files for the boost warp 4g, warp sequent, or the force. id assume there are none for the original warp either

eh, to a point yes, but we make due. ive always tried to make sure we have a good working cwm flashable stock rom, and one for every update as well

I watched it while doing my Spanish 2 HW. Love it.
One question though....
Is there anyway to get to fastboot by key combo?

Well I was thinking of having a script to check for BOOT_COMPLETED var and if not received in 7-10 mins it reboots to fastboot mode as will assume the device loops after boot animation. For those who haven't installed recovery. This can be added to the kernel so it cant be accidentally deleted, malformed, or anything else and we have a way to fix those first day bought bootloops

nope no fastboot by key combo. and really zach? muffins?
What? They're sweet potato flavored, and damn good. Made them in the smaller size holders, so they're also poppable and oh-so-melt-in-your-mouth-good.

Also, yeah, no fastboot key combo. Best is the FTM keycombo VolUp+Power and then adb reboot-bootloader.

ah. well sadly there isnt a way to do it through key combo but that could work granted the script fires, mind you it would need elevated rights to run the "reboot bootloader" command if i remember correctly

Woah...craziness abound
So I was f***ing around with the official update zip trying to make a deodexed stock rom. I'm a total noob and have never done such a thing. Never even ATTEMPTED this. Well it booted...to the ZTE screen then just stuck there for like 10 minutes so I knew it didnt work (turns out the classes.dex file isnt even in the apks) anyway thats not the crazy part.
So somehow I lost my virgin throttle? Like seriously, gone. Downloaded a from for my galaxy siii in like 10min. Are they like having a holiday thing or did I mess up their system? Lol
