Help Deleted files, lost 3G

I was trying to free up internal phone memory by deleting unnecessary data and updates under Applications menu, and deleted too much! I lost use of home key, search key, camera short cut button, screen lock, and probably more that I didn't realize. Finally I also lost all 3G use (wifi still worked).

I did a factory reset, after backing up stuff. I got back all the functions I had lost, but not the 3G. Mobile networks "data enabled" is checked. Any ideas what to do with it? Thanks for any help.

Optimus V (not rooted).

I have no idea how you managed to do that; I'm impressed actually, lol. Shot in the dark but did you try hitting "Activate", either the app or in settings? That usually fixes normal 3G issues.

My 3g was not working after I used a feature in Tasker. I tried the Activate button 3 times but it did not work, called Virgin Mobile and they reset it on their end and had me remove and put back the battery, not sure which of these fixed it but the 3g is now back.

Thanks to you all for the help. In my case it was a matter of using the activate menu option. Selecting that option and letting it run its course, ignoring the "failure to activate" message at the end, and following that with airplane mode for 15_20 seconds got it going again.

The problem turned out to be a result of my having tapped on the activate menu and then after seeing what it was, trying to escape out of it. I thought I had done no damage and forgot about it (you can't do that, you have to let it run all the way through its 123 thing). Later I noticed that when I turned on 3G it wouldn't work but I did not connect the two together.

So good to have it back up again. It's a good little phone when you don't mess it up!

Thanks to you all again.

^Awesome, I'm glad you got it fixed! :) And you bring up a really good point about *letting it run* (even if you hit it by accident; which I have done in the past :o). Backing out of it in a panic (like I did) is likely to screw up your connection. Letting it run won't hurt anything even if you're not having problems with your 3G.
