deleting programs on D2G

i have a droid 2 global and i want to delete some programs like the amazon and skype ones.
i tried to root the phone using the z4root app but it kept crashing. i also only have a Ubuntu laptop to use incase i need a computer.
is there a way to remove these programs?

i did look there and found ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click application to root
and when i check with a root check program it says its rooted. either im dence or its the wrong program but i cant figure out how to remove the unwanted programs

IF you are rooted get a program named Titanium Backup Root from the market place by they pro licence and disable the apps opposed to deleting them. Run for a few days and make sure that there are no ill affects before deleting them and you should have a backup of the app incase you need it later.

thanks argedion, just what i was looking for.
also took your advice and got pro.

sorry it took so long to get back, life has been crazy
