I found out, after testing a lot of different configurations that turning off "wireless network locationing" doubles my htc desire HD on time:

You should get a better battery life when your phone is on Gingerbread.Reading some of these posts makes me slightly envious as my Desire is practically useless now thanks to the battery.
I've turned literally everything off (Wifi off, BT off, GPS off, autosync off, sound off, display to lowest brightness) but the battery dies after next to no time.
As an example my phone was connected to my PC for most of yesterday (charging) and at 11pm last night it was showing as fully charged. By lunchtime today with next to no use the battery had run out and the phone had switched itself off.
That's surely the sign of a duff battery isn't it?

Hopefully, HTC will release the update this month.
No.Im sure I read on here that battery doesn't last as long when charging via a computer doesn't last as long compared to using AC power because of a lower voltage??
Im sure someone could confirm that though

All new Desire owners. Has anyone else noticed the battery charge does not seem to last well? I have the wifi turned off and only enable it when required but just general usage seems to sap the power quite quickly. At the moment I'm not sure a full charge would even last a day!!! Are there any smart apps out there to help manage this? Do widgets relly use that much power? The Android OS itself seems to use an alarming amount of power as does everything else!!! Has anyone else encountered this yet?
Cheers.
