Root Desire Boot Up

ulstersam

Lurker
I have been searching for ages to find a way to get the boot up jingle or tone or whatever its called back again, I lost it when I rooted my Desire and I know most people what to silence it but I kinda like it.

Any help please

it shouldnt go just by rooting.
ive noticed its to do with the device volume
if you are on a stock rom with no change other than root, put the volume up on ringer before you shut down.
you will notice its back when you boot

nah dont hold it down,

its odd that its been removed

is it a stock rom thats been rooted or have you flashed a modified stock like teppics rooted stock rom

One of teppic's mods is "restore bootsound", so you could install that ROM (which is pretty much stock, unless you choose to add the optional mods) and then use that mod to restore the sound.

As the ROM is very close to stock it might work to just flash the mod, but I'd think it safer to install the ROM (you anyway want to do a nandroid backup before flashing anything). Also since we don't know why the boot sound has gone, I'd think that flashing the rom is more likely to actually work.

You can find the ROM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997

Oh heck, not sure if I'm confident enough to tackle something like flashing, took me enough time to root the phone and I was sweating gallons doing that, is there no way I can just copy the bootup tone to the phone and if I can where does it go?

When you root the phone with unrevoked you are already flashing (in a way that is far more dangerous - relatively - than installing a custom ROM). Anyway, on any rooted stock ROM that restore bootsound mod should still work, and all it's doing is the manual steps for you automatically.

(But yes, rooting a stock ROM alone will not remove the boot sound. It's more likely you installed the app that disables it by muting the volume at boot up.)
