Well, my morning has turned from pleasant surprise to being in a pee'd off mood! Awoke this morning to find my phone telling me there was an update available, so I quickly switched on my WiFi before I trundled to work and downloaded it! Woohoo I thought, as it installed and did all it's business - do I want to perform a backup?! Why yes, yes I do! Thank you very much for asking! So after it's finished downloading, I jump in the car, not touching the phone, and when I get to work it says "HORRAH! I have finished installing the update!", to which I say, HORRAH as well, and THEN it says, "Ooooh, sir, by the way, would you like me to restore you backup?" and I say "Yes I spiffing bloody would sir!" and so it wirrs away for a few minutes doing that...but then when it's finished, it doesn't seem to have restored my phone in any other way than a factory reset - all my custom screens and icon layouts are gone, wallpaper defaulted back, basically everything has gone back to when I first switched it on. I quickly checked one of my most frequently used apps, Handcent, and I found that each message thread showed only incoming messages, all my parts of the conversations were gone. Well, geez wizz mister, thanks for nothing. I checked in the stock messaging app and at least my side of the conversation seemed to be present. So...what the hell has happened? I know, I know, I can go back and sort out all my home screens to how I want them, and all that stuff...but I shouldn't have to.
I'm betting there isn't even a "roll back" option to get my phone back to how it was last night when I was perfectly amazingly happy with it. That'll trust me to click "YES" when it says do I want to update, I should have clicked NO, come to work, checked on here, and then thought twice about it.
BAH. Blast and balls. People moan at me for spending too much time on my phone anyway, now I'm going to HAVE to.
