Desire HD Changes..

Hi All, :):D;)

On your HTC Desire HD's, What has everybody done / changed it?

Are people using Go Launcher to change the home screen, or what have other people done?

I like using the HTC Home screen but am wondering what other people have done to change there's around..?

What apps are people using e.g. -- Using different SMS App, Handcent, GO SMS etc.

Let me know what everybody is using. I feel I don't use my HTC Desire HD to everything it can do..

Thanks :D:D

Alright there!!

I'm rooted, running CM7... but who knows for how long (beauty of rooting is that I can change as and when I get bored)!

I use Go Launcher and Go SMS at the moment, as I like that they are from the same devs! :)

Rooted, ARHD 5.1.11 plus a few minor alterations: Sense 3.0 all-in-one, bootanimation.zip, cooked a battery icon in UOT.

Main programs are: K-9 email, Go SMS, Go Dialer, Dolphin Browser, Pure Calendar.

To scared to route:o,so a big fan of all the 'Go' products at the mo.Launcher,sms,contacts.Plenty of things to change on a daily basis if you wanted.

I rooted and switched to custom firmware without HTC Sense. The apps that come with vanilla android aren't brilliant, so these are the ones I found and use now:

Dialler/Contacts: Go Contacts
Launcher: Launcher Pro Plus
Music: PowerAMP
SMS: Handcent
Browser: Dolphin HD/Mini
IM: Trillian
Twitter: Tweetdeck

Apart from Go Contacts, I would stick to these apps now even if I went back to HTC Sense.

Worth knowing. I haven't thought of using Go Contacts... I'll give that a look!! :)

Think that, as things stand at the moment, you'd just have to keep checking - I'm sure that there are people working on it at the moment.

I understand what you mean about being scared to root... it took me about a month to build up the courage to go for it. It wasn't as hard as it seemed and, although I bricked it whilst doing it, was totally worth it! :D

Sorry... wasn't very clear... I didn't mean biricked the phone... meant that I was sh!tting myself whilst doing it!! :)

EDIT - I must remember that BRICED IT/BRICKING IT means something other than just "sh!tting myself" when referring to Android/rooting!!
;)

Rooted and using LeeDroid 3.2.1 with the Honeysense theme. Using Go Launcher Ex as my Launcher and & Go SMS Pro for SMS. Clockr for my desktop clock and Simplistic Text for some icons. Using Dolphin for Internet & K9 for email.

In the past month or so, I've gone from being unrooted using only stock apps to trying a few custom ROMS and using replacements for pretty much all the core apps on the phone.

Dialer/Contacts: Go Contacts

What improvements does that offer over the stock Android offering? The contact management was one of the reasons I switched back to LeeDroid.

Well like I said, the ability to type out the name of a contact like in sense was the main improvement for me. It has themes and contact group support too, I've noticed. Overall, it does resemble the sense one a lot more in terms of layout.

But I haven't used the sense or vanilla diallers in a very long time, so maybe I'm not he best judge. What features did you miss from sense when you tried CM7?

The main 2 were the camera and as mentioned above, the contact management. The linking to FB contacts in CM7 was virtually manual. Sense was "intelligent" enough to realise that Andy Thompson could also be Andrew Thompson. In CM7, I had to link the contacts like that manually.

Also, whilst the camera wasn't terrible, I found it had a bit of a delay between the button being pressed and the pic being taken. Doesn't sound much, but when you're trying to take pictures of a 2 year old, it was the difference between a decent shot and a blur. The MIUI camera was an improvement, but not perfect and Camera 360 was a huge drain on battery.

There were other minor niggles, but those were my main problems.

I tried it out using the merge option in Go Contacts. Like you described, it wouldn't match an Andy on the phone to an Andrew on facebook.

I'll have a play with it later and see if there's another solution.

I've just downloaded Go Contacts and have to say, it is better than the stock CM7 one... wanna give it a bit of a go before making my mind up for good but, so far, it seems pretty sweet! :)
