Desire HD - Version 2.2.1 Build 1.84

Hi,
I did the automatic update through the phone to version 2.2.1.
Ever since then the battery life has dropped dramatically.
I now get around 4 hours of use (wifi + a few calls).
Is there anyway to downgrade the version to 2.2?

Thanks,

Check your sync settings.

I've had my Orange dhd for 2 - 3 weeks now and have been trying to get voice dialling to work with my Jabra Stone headset. Eventually chatted online to HTC support and was informed that voice dialling is not supported in Android OS . Did a bit more research and finally bought Cyberon's voice speed dialler which is very similar in operation to the Windows speed dialler that I had on my Touch HD.

This worked to a point, i.e. "pressing" the answer/end button did not invoke the app, it had to be run manually. The 2.2.1 update downloaded yesterday and pressing the answer/ end button now invokes this application automatically:). Have not come across any downsides as yet.

Regards - Paul

after the upgrade, realise i cant root my dhd anymore w visionary r14, any other had idea hz to root dhd w sw1.84? thks

Just got the 2.21 upgrade yesterday.
I purchased my DHD in Jan this year. It was unlocked and I am currently on the Vodafone network in the Australasian region

Upgrade wasnt available until yesterday!
After upgrade (which took around 20-30mins) i noticed my DHD was:

-way more snappier (more responsive, smoother between home screens)
-txtn was smoother (ever noticed a tiny lag between keys before? looks to be gone!)
-finally fixed my facebook not showing images on wall
-facebook has chat and places (not 100% sure if they were there before though!)
-hd camera recording is noticeably smoother (compared to previously where you may get pauses, little lag etc when watching a 720p recorded video)

and yes i also had to reinstall Locations (around another 40mb download) after the upgrade.

I cant comment on battery life improvement on this upgrade yet, but at current settings (wireless - on, brightness - mid, sync - manual, bluetooth - off) and previous build (2.2) i was getting around 1.5-2days off a single charge so no major complaints yet lol :)

To date, pretty impressed with the upgrade!!

I *really* hope it does fix the bug where your all sms/mms's getting deleted (this has happened to me twice now - using an app to backup them up to my gmail now),
however if not then maybe 2.3 release haha

Cheers

Anybody with a Desire HD in the UK or Ireland get the update yet?/
I'm in Ireland with an unlocked DHD ordered from the UK and still no update... Wonder why there would be such a delay between regions.

Yep - T-Mobile UK. All good apart from one issue. The weather widget now only updates over wifi - not mobile internet.

That is too bad i'm most of my time on mobile data when i'm not home and i would like to know what is the weather forecast!

Got reply from HTC this morning:

Thank you for your email to HTC.

The update is sent automaticly to the diffrent phones from a list of IMEI nummbers so the server will not be overloaded. Sadly I do not have acess to the system to know where your phone is on the list.
One should recive the update within a months time.

Hope you recive the update soon

Sincerely,

Andrew

Guess we'll just have to play the waiting game...:(

WTF.....!?this is so stupid from HTC if there is an update relese the update for all phones not just based on imei!!!!i can't belive that Nokia that i ran from, has better update policy than HTC.......i don't know what to say.

I'm also on T-Mobile in the UK but I can't any update available. I'm still on build 1.72. Any ideas why that is?

That is 2.2.1 (the latest update).
Even though you're with Tmobile, from the number, it sounds like your phone is unlocked & unbranded.

This is the response I got from HTC:
Dear xxxx,

Thank you very much for contacting the HTC technical support help desk.

The updates exact release date would still need to be confirmed on the day to day basis, from region to region, from language localization etc. Therefore we are unable to give you such an information. In the meantime, please continue to visit the HTC website, where we progressively update to inform our users of any promotion, development, and updates.

Please, for HTC Desire HD downloads and useful information about your device goes to:

HTC now seem to have acknowledged that there is a problem with the T-Mobile buils of the 1.84 update. (though they did also suggest waiting for Gingerbread(!)

They have suggested a couple of remedies to me, which I'm going to try tonight. I'll report back if i have any success!
