Desire HD vs Galaxy S

yeh i know it doesn't mention anything specific, i've seen an email and heard a youtube confirmation that it's S-LCD, both from HTC, tis good enough for me, especially if people are saying it's brighter than the desires one, mind you, as i said earlier i rushed (and by rush i do mean about 3 weeks of research) into a desire normal and regretted that (bad graphics, crap speaker, average camera and main thing was the axis crossing on the screen) sucks to be so compulsive

look, right now I have a htc hd2 and if I open a black photo I can see the light under it, or let's say black it's not black, on desire hd if you see on youtube at 1080p the light under black image it's not there... what I mean black it's black... no color, it's missing/empty/non existing so it's a better improvement from TFT

This all that matter for me :), and for upcomind htc's I will need 2 or 3 years to have one better than DHD. Only missing from it it's HDMI output but in other terms we have it and it's wirelles. (DLNA)

I have just ordered the Desire HD from Dabs.. might as well go for the cheapest i can get, as i am going to be screwed on price selling the SGS.

In fact i am going to put it on ebay in the next day or so before the HD is out... may get a slightly better price?!

Get any Quidco or TopCashBack on it?

T-Mobile.. how does that work if you are buying the phone outright? I already have a contract with vodafone.

Now I am confused..long day for me lol.

Basically I was referring to the cashback on above as if you got a contract with T-Mob you between

It's weird that no1 has mentioned the small internal memory of the DHD!
The Droid HD is only offering 1.5GB! while the Galaxy S is offering 8GB...

The question is how many apps is 1.5GB considering most new games are gonna be 20MB+ even 100MB!! This is the only point keeping me from buying the DHD.
I was so excited when i found out about the DHD until i saw it's internal space.
Don't forget that most apps don't support the move to sd that come with 2.2, and apps with services running in the background have to be installed on the system.

The galaxy S with a custom rom (progress is being done by cyanogenmod) seems to be a better phone than the DHD

Its one trade off another. HTC have never included a mass amount of internal space in the phone.

Adobe Air and Adobe flash are big files (12mb +)

Actually, useful point I forgot to make. The 8GB in the sgs is split as 2gb available for apps etc and 6gb that appears as an SD card.

Nothing like a bit of advertisement eh Karnka haha :D

Quite :)

I think it'll be eBay. To be honest I think I'd rather it went fairly cheaply so the buyer can't be too upset when they realise how bad it is.

Anyway, whoever was asking just don't buy an SGS.

its not that bad :O

Mike, apart from the GPS the phone generally seems to have signal strength issues with cell and wifi. It's also quite unstable in my opinion.

I have a magic that is rock solid in every way when put next to the galaxy s, think about how your g1 compares...

One thing that's worth mentioning is that I used to have a galaxy Spica/portal which had none of these problems. So Samsung can get things right, just not with the galaxy s.

I'm sure you probably know this, but it goes for about

Any info on the supposedly horrible battery life on the DHD?

I may sebd mine back. The battery is terrible indeed. It's 9:30 and my battery is indicating literally half full.

I've barely used the thing yet. Everything is switched off, with exception of 3g and Wifi. No widgets, sync settings knocked down to 1 a day.

Useless.

This is quite strange, providing that you've charged it this morning. Have you formated the battery properly? I know it may sound daft, but after 3-4 cycles of full discharge -> full charge the battery life should improve significantly. It's quite impossible for a battery to last only 6h tbh (well my 3GS did, that's why I took it back after a 5 days and hot laggy Hero instead).

I would say you have a) a problem or b) something running that is draining the battery. At about 9.45am I have about 60% charge left. That's with BT and wifi on. It was charged at 4pm yesterday and my son was playing Angry Birds on it a lot last night. I get over a day with it.

Seeing what uses the battery and it's always the screen that comes out top. Have you set the screen to go off? Mine goes off after 30 seconds.
