Nice looking phone... I have been eyeing it as an upgrade from my Atrix. I checked out the Phone on the telus site and it doesnt mention the resolution. It is supposed to a 720p phone correct? Come on AT&T I need it.

the test phone is supposedly 720p yes...we have no way to verify though...

other than it looks amazing!

Not sure if this TELUS device is LTE, maybe just dual band HSPA+ with AT&T as well as T-Mobile 1700 AWS bands built in. Also none of the review sites mention 720P just the "usual" AMOLED PLUS.

Or if you look at it the other way, it's identical to the T-Mobile SGS 2 with AT&T bands added. :) Same shape, same screen size, same processor as the T-Mo.

Just what I am looking for though. Hopefully it comes to AT&T soon as Mr. Ed suggests. Don't care about LTE although the 720P would be nice. Anyone want to buy a 2 weeks old SGSII? :D

it supposedly was, and was th difference between the tmo/telus version and what att will get

sammy has turned in his test phone...he now has an 8.1 galaxy tab 4g

we should see the celox in 3-4 weeks

his response to my question of how he liked the celox over all

"it was just plain awesome"

he liked it much better than the gs2

It was confirmed on XDA that the Telus Galaxy S2 X and the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 devices are 100% identical. Same "all band" (3G/4G on both AT&T and T-Mo) radios but NO LTE and NO HD display. They are identical twins ......

Logically the AT&T version should be different. If it isn't different then it would just be a 4.5" version of the Galaxy S2 with round corners which doesn't make sense to have 2 virtually identical devices.

I would have to agree with Mr. Ed that the AT&T version will be LTE. No guess on the display though unless he has more details.

Looks like it will be called the Skyrocket with no HD display. The HTC Vivid will have an HD display but slightly slower processor. Decisions, decisions...

NOV 6th Boys and girls...get you some 4g goodness!

AT&T's First 4G LTE Phones: HTC Vivid, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

It's also been announced on At&t's facebook and twitter...still trying to find a bit more info like final specs and pricing

Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is an LTE-enabled handset with a spacious 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The handset runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and under the hood, a 1.5GHz dual-core processors makes it tick. An 8-megapixel rear camera allows capturing video in 1080p, while up front there

The HTC will have slower proc, but better camera and 60 fps 1080P recording unless it's a misprint. That 60 fps is huge compared against 30fps for everyone else, IMO. Also possible better low light camera action. The HTC though, will also be a heavier/thicker phone. Which I personally don't like.

I'm going with the Samsung even though it's $50 more.

That HTC will have the new root process.. which sux

I am worried about fps...the test version of the Samsung was in the 30s

I am new to these forums and looking for my first Android phone. My wife has the Samsung inFuse and I love the size of the screen. I had a crackberry and took over her iPhone 3GS cause I had heard of the Samsung Galaxy S2 and have been waiting on it. Long story short, I been waiting to use my upgrade on the Galaxy, saw this thread and saw the Nexus Prime thread so been waiting to get a better phone.

My question is this:

Why in the world can't a company like Samsung release a device that has the right mix of features.

For example I was ready for the Celox till it appears there isn't a HD display. What gives, why would they make the first LTE phone for AT&T with all of the great features but leave that one off? Why can't they just deliver "a bomb" of a phone. Why leave this important feature out?

I wanted the Prime, but it appears it won't be coming to AT&T anytime soon and I am dying on my 3GS.

Can anyone explain this stupidity on the part of Samsung or At&T or whomever? Celox looks to be a great phone but they screwed this one one too by not delivering on the HD display. I just don't understand.

Forgive my ranting, been watching this forums for 5 months now and finally decided after the news today about this phone that I was just so irritated that I had to speak.

This phone was designed/developed almost a year ago. The only reason for the delay was lack of LTE in my opinion. It was actually designed prior to the SGS2

Everything advances too quickly. Just wait...within 6 months of the nexus...something better will be out. Keep in mind also....we still don't know 100% that this phone does not have the HD screen. The test unit we played with supposedly did.. and it was the one major thing that set the att version apart from the telus and tmo. Version

Unfortunately from all the specs linked in the above messages Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket full specs it does not have the HD screen (I hope they are wrong but it seems like no HD). It seems to be simply the T-Mobile & Telus models + LTE.

On the other hand the HTC device is spec'd out with an qHD screen. HTC Vivid specs

I also wonder if these devices will even be sold in locations that don't have LTE rolled out when it is initially released?

But you measured the screen at 4.5" right?
The HD screen is only on the 4.65" screen (Korean model) :(

Good call. I didn't measure with a ruler. Now that the phones release date and official pics have been posted I can post my pics. I will try and do that tomorrow am

Thx Mr. Ed for the information. I realize I would be waiting forever to get a phone so I guess I will wait and look at this phone when it is released.

I really enjoy these forums, great place to learn about upcoming mobile technology.

I wonder how the Vivid performs compared to the Skyrocket. I had so many issues with the Super Amoled screen that I'm kind of hesitant about grabbing the Skyrocket..

Skyrocket:

Bette processor, vivid screen, 1800MaH battery

Vivid

Possibly better camera, qHD screen but not as vivid, 1620MaH battery

If I'm correct, both processors are the Qualcomm APQ 8060 with the Adreno 220.

Still stumped on which one to grab...

Play with them both then decide ;)
