Root Dev Needed... 2.1 Running on the Behold 2

the only way that they could surprise us with 2.1 is if there was some reason the galaxy s used the same driver as the bh2 and couldnt use it on the bh2 until the galaxy s was released due to some legal reason. which I doubt, so dont get your hopes up

The Samsung Acclaim is supposed to get a 2.1 update soon. If that's true we might be able to use it if we had someone to develop of course.

I think most of the dev for the phone has died, for the most part people are doing roms with 1.6 and I think thats about it, hopefully I'm wrong

As a side note, as far as a business plan goes surprising a consumer with something they were supposed to get is basically like wrapping up a crib and giving it to a baby on their first birthday, they should already have it and your evil for waiting so long to give it to them.

No where, the time it would take to put this projected together a person with that know how could easily make enough money to buy a better for, therefore from an economic stand point, it will not happen. As far as a technical standpoint its not possible unless someone knows how to reverse engineer the drivers for the phone which will not happen due to reason one

However, I no longer have a Behold 2.

I'm tempted to loan you mine! The BH2 is my first smartphone, which I grabbed during the 1 week window when T-mobile was giving them away as a free upgrade (with 2yr commitment). On the one hand, it's a remarkable feat of technology with a gorgeous display. It's like holding a multimedia PC in your hand. But as a phone, it's pretty darn marginal. The battery life is at best 2 days, and I always have trouble getting it out and answering it without hitting the wrong button and sending the call to voicemail. I find myself using older just plain camera phones when I need to rely on something for days to make phone calls.

OK, OK, I have to admit it saved me one day when I accidentally drove off into the hinterlands of MD and got lost. I whipped out my BH2, started up Mapdroid, and navigated back to civilization.

man that is some of the best news Ive heard since i heard that we were getting 1.6... so are you willing to work on it because it seems that all of the great BH2 Dev's sold there phone.

well, after learning source a bit better, it Highly Possible to get 2.1 working on this.. However, I no longer have a Behold 2.

I've finally come to grips with only getting updated to 1.6, but I would really be willing to lend you my BH2 if you can get 2.1 working on it. Currently I'm using the OTA 1.6 ROM with the rooted kernel posted by Nu11u5. Seems much more stable, but still freezes at times.

Thanks BHMAN!

Yes, It's a great phone, just not happy with how samsung did everyone with this :(

What if the members of the forum banded together like before and helped you to buy one? How many people on this forum would be willing to donate some of their cash to this cause? To succeed in this endeavor now would be the ultimate slap in the face for samsung.

If there's interest in that, I may even sell mine at a discount. I've just about had it with this thing.

I paid $150 a month ago. I've got one more attempt at a rom that is stable and if that doesn't work, I'd be willing to take a loss on it to make it go away.

When you had 2.1 on the behold 2 how did it run BH_MAN did it run well did you try a live wallpaper?
Also if you don't have a behold 2 by the time the g2 comes out (Sep 9 hopefully) ill donate my behold 2.

Other than the fact that sound, wifi, bluetooth and vibrate had problems the actual phone could handle it. Live wallpaper worked great and I experience no lag like I did with the g1 on cm 6.

Personally the whole the phone cant support 2.x is the biggest load of bull ive ever heard in my life, It just wasnt cost effective for them to produce it, this is talking from an economic standpoint because MB < MC.

The only thing I was having issue's with was Sound, at the time I wasn't very into source, but more into porting.. Now that I'm into source. I truly think it can be done, as I had everything else working minus sound / BT.. I had sound, but not through the head set when making calls..

P.S,
I'm not going to waste money to buy another, nor would I ask anyone to do the same!
If one finds it way back into my hands though, I will work on it though..
