Root Did i brick my phone?

WOW thank you so much! i got it back working with twrp 2.5!!! :D
i cant thank you guys enough i was close to throwing in the towel and taking it to the store took me 5 hours but i fixed it :p

My only other request would be could you link my some roms that are compatible so i dont ever have to go through this terror again?

NICE!!!!!!!!!!

ok here is a list we keep with current roms and kernels:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/614073-list-utilities-roms-kernels.html

check out the staff picks as they are great suggestions of roms to try. now keep in mind that you are on the latest ota and are only unlocked. because of that you can only flash JB sense roms. you can't try any aosp roms unless you get s-off. the guide i linked will help you get s-off, if you ever want to go that route.

Ok i will check that out.So was the jellybam i downloaded from a bad source or was it just the fact that my device is s-on?

not sure what exactly happened to be honest, but i think it might have to do with the fact that you are s-on.....plus i never trust that site. they have given bad advice numerous times in the past so i'm not surprised by what happened.

You should go s-off. Like you, I was hesitant to do it at first because the instructions for doing it seemed very daunting but I got it on the first try and once you do, you can try out any rom out there (provided they're for the evo 4g lte of course).

Boy I'm glad yinz were up, I was asleep for all of that. :o Good BTW. :)

@ inferiorarts, welcome to the forums and the club!!! :)

I'll also endorse going S-off. You can do so much more with full access to your phone. Check out Ocn's guide he linked above, it's really not as bad as it looks. We're aways around if you have any questions. :)

i was looking at methods of doing that but the only one i found isnt even supported on windows OS?

It looks scary to do it in Ubuntu at first glance but it's really not. You make a bootable cd or thumbdrive and basically copy in our instructions. You can ask us Ubuntu questions or use the developers live chat and they'll help you.

There's also the SuperCID method called Facepalm. That doesn't care about the operating system. Our gang here hasn't had much luck with it, but it's valid, seems to work for some, and won't harm anything to try.

I'm having one new issue i happened to have all my music backed up on my PC now i'm trying to drop it back into my new music folder but here's whats happening , not sure if i should have made a new thread or anything here is a screenshot

433847ac0b670ba347b9eec3ce5afaa1.png :(

EDIT : ****I FOUND A WAY TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN**** But why is it taking so long to transfer files? it took 20 mins to transfer a 2gb music file?

Restarted my phone everything seems to be working fine now :D

I've had this happen with photo transfers. A phone and 'puter reboot fixed it for me as well. :)

For S-off with DirtyRacun, the Ubuntu method is really easier in the end. No drivers, no anti-virus messing with stuffs, communications between Ubuntu and phone just work. ;)

Trust me, if I can get it to work, anyone can. :)

If i get s-off will i be able to get jellyBAM or cyanogenmod

Not sure what's drawing you to Jellybam, and no offense, but it came from a site where you almost lost your phone.

What's your pleasure? What are you seeking in a good experience?

Tell us that and we'll be able to give you best options.

Otherwise, nandroid backup is your friend, and you may experiment at will with s-off.

Only reason i wanted jellybam was because it was the first rom i saw for the evo i thought it looked pretty nice and had some decent features but if there's a better ROM im all for it

Also i have been using my cousins galaxy s3 lately and i really love touch wiz and all the features are their any roms that would be like that?

well i can't say that i have tried jellybam so i'm not sure if that is a good rom or not. but i can say that both carbon and pacman are great. they offer the best as far as features go. they are so any settings to offer you. with both pacman and carbon you get features from 3 roms(paranoid, aokp, and cm10)all built into one rom!!!!

they are small, fast, and have been given my the best battery life so far.

that is my suggestion at least. but it is your phone so go ahead and get s-off and then flash away at your choosing......just let us know which one you did and how you like it;)

Now my last concern is how and where should i make backup because last time i made a backup but it ended up getting lost and i'm worried that will happen again

Like Ocn said the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Roms he listed are top notch roms. Lots of features and settings to play with.

For a feature rich Sense Rom, I recommend Viper4G. ;) It's just a really great rom, and its rock solid for stability.

You can't go wrong with whatever you choose, just remember, you'll need to be S-off to flash any AOSP roms. :)

Now my last concern is how and where should i make backup because last time i made a backup but it ended up getting lost and i'm worried that will happen again

when you do nandroid backups with twrp, it gets saved in a folder called twrp. now in twrp you have a choice on where to save it. you can save it to your sd card or internally. when you flash a rom the internal storage does not get wiped unless you choose to in recovery.

so make sure to make a nandroid backup always before flashing or messing with your phone. and a good practice is to back up your sd card.

a good idea also is to backup your sd card frequently to your pc. here is a good way to backup both your internal storage and sd card:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/567529-how-make-full-sd-card-backup-via-usb.html
