Help Did they change Bluetooth connectability in some way??

Prior to the latest update to the Evo I was not having any difficulty with my vehicle's bluetooth connecting (and staying connected) with my EVO. After the update however I can see it connect, and then after some time, it just disconnects. So I was just wondering if someone could tell me if they know of some purposeful changes that was made in the latest update that was pushed out a while back? Maybe some changes to the power regulation of the BT side of things?


I can tell that it has actually disconnected by looking at my vehicles BT LED color. It changes from GREEN to ORANGE.

I have to constantly go in and physically go through the procedure of connecting EVO with my Car. Thanks for any input.

I am running System Panel, but only for observation purposes. As far as I know in order for the program to close something out, I would have to initiate it myself, which I don't. When the newest update for the Evo came out, and after I installed it, I went into the bluetooth settings for the Evo and started from scratch. However, I have no way of doing that on the vehicle bluetooth setup that I know of (I'll have to look into that a little more as it never even crossed my mind). How many times have you had to perform your "start from scratch" scenario? That, to me, would get a little old. I tried your link and the website here hiccupped and didn't like it.
 
Only once. In the menu of most headunits there is a delete pairing option.

Search" bluetooth" and a few threads will come up about bluetooth issues. You may find even more useful suggestions

I did do a search prior to posting, however I was being lazy (somewhat) and trying to find my answer without having to go through all of those multitudes of msgs, most of which didn't seem to relate to my specific problem (according to what I saw on the titles displayed). I appreciate you taking the time out to try and help, thanks.
 
It is definitely alot of info. and many are experiencing problems. Have you tried deleting the pairing on the car side as well as the evo?
 
also, while connected... menu.settings.wireless and networks.bluetooth settings , make sure discoverable is selected also click on the individual item (car headunit) and make sure the evo is connected to phone and audio


that is all i can think of to try right now

I haven't had the time to delve into my vehicles operating manual as of yet. So the jury is still out on that one. There is no obvious way of doing it that I can tell by looking into the settings menus of the vehicles bluetooth radio.

Thanks for that, but as stated in (one of my posts anyway :) ) the darn thing connects and then disconnects after about 15-25 seconds. Sometimes the bluetooth audio side of it stays connected but the headphone portion of it (which would be the car acting in place of the headset) disconnects...really a bit strange. Also, although part of it disconnects after a while, I'll make a stop somewhere, get outta the car, come back and start up the car to go on with my trip and the darn thing will work with no problems at all.....staying connected through the rest of the ride. :confused:

when it does this (stays connected) is when you need to pull over and go to those settings in the phone and just make sure that everything is set up correctly.

you are right..you can only get into those settings while it is connected to the bluetooth device

Yea, I thought about that, but then I also thought that the settings are exactly the same as before I got outta the car on my stop. So I never really looked at them as I already know it is set up correctly. I have yet to have the time to look into the car settings, although I don't really even think there is a way to do any settings. I'm pretty sure that all the vehicle does is serve as a bluetooth connection and pipes the voice communication over the stereo speakers. Connection wise, all I've had to do is just start the car and bluetooth comes on and searches automatically, there is no way to "turn it off" persay, and if it picks up on any devices in range, the device, like my evo, will display a pairing code I have to put in for the car. On the car side of things, everything is automatic, no intervention from me at all.


I appreciate your assistance in trying to help. I think I'll just learn to live with it for now. It's not like it won't connect at all, it's just a pain to have to reconnect it 1-2 times. Prior to the last evo update, all I did was just start the car and there was a successful pairing in under 5 seconds and I didn't have to do anything else. Just wish it was still like that. :rolleyes:
