I was messing with my nexus 7 because my primary rom would boot, then pop ups of apps closing, never had that problem before, its stock rooted kk, well i go fed up with it, so i removex it and kept my cm10. 2, so as i was trying to find omni, i tried paranoid butt i just never seem to gt the right gapps lol but i removed it, then reading the rom section, i thought i found anothsr rooted stock kk, but once i installed it, something didn't look right, so i dwnlded root checker and i installed a stock unrooted rom, with cm10 as primary, how can you do such a think with mulirom, i thought you had to be rooted? Oh well probably something simple, but still has me scratching my head! Lol cheers

Uhhh, yeah. I'm scratching my head, as well. Trying to figure out what the heck you just said. I'm using Nexus 7 as well with SmoothROM but don't seem to have anything like what you describe. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Here's what you could do, (if I understand correctly), when there's a question about having root, or needing root, or retaining root, go to the Play Store, and download, Scary Alien's "Android Root Toolkit".

Doing so will give you a way to find out if root is detected, or lost, or to maintain or to upgrade your root, and a lot more. And he's always been willing to help and isn't really scary at all. :)

Good luck.

Cool. Did our Scary Alien make that? :)

That's a big 10-4.

And because he did, and because that little app saved my bacon, I found gratitude welling up, ..so sent a tiny bit of $ to say thanks.

Than that began what seemed natural, ..tell as many people as I could in this community, that we have among us, a gentleman scholar and developer who also has excellent manner's. :)

That's a scary nightmare type deal, we've all been there, I'm glad you got out of the loop.

Look, for the next time, or if your just stuck, and nothing else works, you can always pull the back cover, and (gently) pull the wire harness off the battery leads. I posted the pix once, but here it is again.

And for giggles, I went through a nightmare scenario with my phone just a few day's ago, had a real long hard day, got home, went into recovery, to wipe data/factory reset, and restore a different backup ... then my tired brain remembered a post where a guy had formatted his SD Card, well I had a new Toshiba 32 GB micro SD, I was going to install, so I figured while I was there, why not do the format now?

Now everyone reading this can see the obvious thing that you should NEVER do right? Go ahead think, .... I'll wait......

You should never format your SD card, BEFORE you restore your backup, since there won't be any backups to restore. All you'll have is the recovery that keeps the phone alive and providing options.

Best thing to do is stay calm, it does no good to run outside in below zero weather screaming your head off. (That happens so much where I live that no one pay's too much attention anyway) :)

Calm quality thinking solved that

In general, copy your Nandroid backups from your /SDCARD (whether really an SD card or Internal Memory) to your computer. If there is only one set of backups in one location, you don't have backups. ;)

Agreed.

Then there's the time's when there's no way to USB connect the Nexus7 to the PC, and transfer.

Work-around's exist, and can be found. In my case, after that ADB and driver setup (which worked great), stopped and no longer can be restored.

Turn's out, that there's quite a few who can not connect, (for whatever reason), the tablet and PC, to transfer.

In my case I use Stickmount (an app), and OTG? cable, and ES File app, let's me transfer, to and from the 8GB flash drive. Not simple like USB to PC, but get's that job done.

Another way is a Micro SD card reader/writer that connects by USB to the PC, I just started using that as mass storage (16 GB) etc.

Thanks for the tip.
