Help Different notification tone while charging?!

xaircooledx

Lurker
Just realized that when my EVO is plugged in and charging, it uses a different notification tone to alert me of a text message. Unplugged, I get the tone that I have selected and used for quite some time. Plugged in, The phone reverts to a ringtone that does NOT show up in the "Sound" menu as an available tone?!?!
As I was running down the list of available notification tones in an attempt to get the name of the tone it was reverting to, I realized that any tone that has been added by me doesn't play what it is supposed to. WTH?
I'm thinking this has to do with where I store my custom tones. It only happens when my phone is charging and mounted as a disk drive. Can someone confirm that when mounted as a disk drive, the phone can't access certain areas of storage? Where should I be saving these files?

I could be wrong here, so an expert step in and correct me if I am. If you're phone is mounted, the "drive" is not accessible, so it will default to one of the native ring tones.

That is correct. ....if you are charging in the wall though it should still play....otherwise you have an app putting your phone in disk drive mode anytime a USB cord is plugged in. Alot of music apps and sync apps do that
