Disappointed in Sprints speeds in your area?

Does anyone here have the airwave? If you don't you should call sprint and ask about it.

i have one.. free from sprint... got it early this year.

for it to work ..it must have a GPS signal.
in my office.. my EVO OG and my new S3 can find GPS.. no problem!
the Air-Rave has a big antenna and it cannot lock on GPS!!!
i got to pull it outside in full view of the sky!

it also interferes with my friends ATT signal..

so now it sits in the storage.. waiting for sprint to send me the box get it back. which they said they will send 2 weeks ago, and i even got an email that they sent it out. still have not seen it.

Sprint didn't have to send me a letter asking for their Airrave back. I was calling them to take it. Anytime someone on prepaid would be at my house they'd loose all phone service. It took a minute and some Googling to discover it was linked to the Airrave.

The minute I unplugged it phones started working again. Rinse repeat sane thing. So while it was good for me the fact it was jamming others want worth keeping it.

The Airave has been a disaster for my wife and I. When we had Epics, it would prevent text messages from going out. Airave support could not solve the issue for over a year. We turned it off and keep it. I left to Verizon and my wife tried an iPhone (4S & 5). The iPhone5's texting is fine but the Airave will "crash" (not the proper term) and then it will slow our internet down to unusable speeds. The Airave is behind the router just like I read in the Airave thread here. Now she is dropping calls constantly because of Sprint's poor reception (in a good Sprint reception area...sigh.)

The only problem I have with 3g/4g connections is when I leave out of New York City. I'm patiently waiting on Sprint 4G LTE and 3g enhancements to turn on in New York.

Hopefully some of Sprint's employees are reading this -- to see how disgusted most of their customers are with their poor services.

i think sprint knows.. from the amount of long term clients that have left.
i am sure they are worried..
might be the main reason they sold out to softbank. to get and boost of cash to fix issues and stop the bleeding as fast as they can.

i sure hope they hurry up and get started... PR is everything.
i keep reading VW and ATT announcements of more LTE cities... while sprint is quiet.
make some noise!!!

I used my AirRave in my Apartment complex. There was no way to lock it down to my phones alone. There was a "security option" but the Sprint AirRave representative told me flat out that while the feature was listed, it didn't work YET. He said they were in the process of allowing you to secure the AirRave to your devices alone.

So, I was a little unhappy that I was providing service & 3G to anyone in my Apartment complex with Sprint using my broadband internet. I did confirm this. My In-Laws with Sprint came over & they were able to get full signal off my AirRave without being listed as approved devices on my AirRave network.

^^^ yes.. that was another issue.. it would bog down my internet.. with other people's traffic.

total crap!!!!

I had the same issue with the airrave...my wife would get a great voice/data signal. But could not send/recieve texts. And randomly her phone would not allow calls out/in until I reset the airrave.

Good device in theory, but too many headaches.

At least they provided it for free though, can't complain too much.

Now, had I paid for it....

And their tech support is pretty clueless if you ask me. I am getting very slow 3G speeds down here in south Florida, I'm talking 20k (20k!!!!) download speeds at times. I realize they haven't switched on their LTE down here yet but this is pathetic. I call their support and all they tell me is their towers are working fine, and can I take the phone to a store. I do that and they tell me there's nothing wrong with the phone. I'm really aggravated. Oh and I get this too, how many apps are you running, you can't run spotify and navigation at the same time blah blah blah. I was able to do that on my iphone 4 on AT&T, with no drop offs, and I'd get 1500-3000k while running both of those with the speedtest app. I get 20k with 6 full bars on Sprint 3G though, while running nothing. I've even tried this on a reboot with no apps running at all.

Is it just me having these issues in south Florida (Broward)? Oh and the tech, my favorite, well sir if you live in a rural area, you won't get the best signal. I live in a major metropolitan area, one of the biggest in the country, give me a break!

Sorry I'm just venting at this point, I doubt anyone here can help, just frustrated.

My buddy who lives in Palm Beach county, but travels very often to Miami says he doesn't have many issues with speeds at all, but he still has an E4GT w/ WiMAX. My sister on the other hand lives in the same county, but has terrible speeds and hates Sprint. YMMV (obviously).

hahaha.. expectations....

Edit:
everyone's expectations are different.. on the same product/service.
your example is funny.. how the same service is great or bad depending on that person's expectations.

My cries to Sprint via Twitter might be coming to an end. I'm now getting 4G LTE in certain areas around Brooklyn (really close to my area). I'm sure my area will be seeing 4G LTE up and running in no time. :)

What I'm seeing is really fast LTE connection. Seems faster than my friend's 4G LTE phone (Verizon).

Keep in mind tower congestion. There's going to be way more people on a Verizon tower with an lte capable phone than on the brand new sprint tower. Many are holding onto their wimax device until lte is live

So on my old epic touch (gs2) I was lucky if I could pull in speeds of maybe 0.3mbps down, and after doing several speed tests from yesterday and today on my new gs3, crazy better. Rather odd. See below. This is just 3g no lte in my area.

that is odd...

do you still have the gs2? you can reactivate yourself..it online at sprint's website.
switch phones on the fly

then test the speeds again to confirm.

Sounds more like a defective Epic Touch to me.

Or -

Lock the Speedtest to the same server. Different servers provide wildly different results, a reason to take Speedtest with a grain of salt.
oops on that sorry

I've been getting some nice speeds overall recently.

Although I have hardly anything to complain about. I am vexed at the wildly different speeds I get.

Both of these were taken a couple days apart but only a within a mile of each other.

@bear its simple why speeds are different. As others stated lte is very signal dependent and varies tower wise. So either the signal was worse or u connected to a more congested tower.
