Root [DISCONTINUED] SimplicityXL {Updated 5/17/14}

You most definitely can stop tethering. Check it out.

Listen i don't really mess with throttling cause 1 i cant even get over a gig in one month and 2 the mod never sticks. Boost is your service provider, think about it, if they can disrupt your service easily and make your phone basically useless, what makes you think you can undo the throttling speeds that they place on your phone?. Yeah sure some works & some don't but they never ever stick, you'll automatically find yourself back to your original throttling speeds whether you like it or not which is why i have no interest in trying to unthrottle any phone. You pay for what you get, if you don't like it upgrade to a better carrier.

well it sticks for me but I am paying $3 a day for unlimited everything so like $93 a month. The same I paid for my grandfathered att plan which throttled me between 2-4 GB. I could do the $55 plan but then you are right. It wouldn't stick. But if you switch to $3 then you will never be throttled. I have been doing this for 3 months now. No throttling and pulling 3 megabytes down on 4g. It's worth the $93 for sure I'll pay the extra $40 for unlimited internet any day over cable internet. So if you want unlimited than switch to the $3 a day unlimited day to day plan if not no one bitch about being throttled. This mod will only stick if you have the $3 a day unlimited plan. Only worth it if you don't have gone internet if not than the mod might work for a day a week etc or it might not work at all. But there is a sure fire way and that would be the solution above.

First off thanks for the rom, I especially love the see through tinted part in the expanded notifications window. I just did the ota update as well. I should mention to some people that if you try the key combination and it asks if you would like to go to recovery then you click power and it keeps booting, to battery pull then do the key combo again, it always works for me after the third try.
I understand what you are saying about throttling but isnt there maybe a way instead of UNDOING a throttle to just PREVENT the throttle instead by disallowing boost from maybe reading the data amount or writing the throttle to the phone?

thanks for the great tips, but I wouldn't have posted the question had I not already tried Chrome Opera and Firefox ( my "browsers") as I mentioned in my earlier post. none of them seem to want to display that damned captcha! lol not looking to circumvent the system, just trying to finally get a copy of this ROM so I can justify the nightmare and hoops I've gone through to flash back to stock, zv5 update, etc. to finally try out what i keep reading is a kick ass rom! So anyway, if Chev (Mad Respect btw) could pm me a temporary alt link or something, I would be eternally grateful! thanks again to Chev and those who sacrificed much much time and many excedrin in the making of this ROM and the overall development of the Android community. for many years I've had and used a Windows Mobile phone and learned Windows programming from the ground up to hack that phone backwards and forwards. in the couple of months that I've had this Android phone I've bricked/unbricked it, rooted and flashed ClockworkMod recovery, custom kernel, and lots of blacked out apps, and been forced to learn Linux and Android from the ground up. pretty sure the Devs will concur its no cakewalk. but it's been fun exciting and educational, and nothing beats that familiar feeling of "Look what I can do!" after you hack something and make it your own! looking forward to pushing the limits of this phone and its software and learn everything that can be done with it, someday teaching others to do the same.
I had the same problem, used maxthon browser and went to setting and switched the UI to desktop as opposed to android and was able to view the captcha.

Nope lol or at least no that i know of, make a call right now and then go to your boost mobile account on their site and check out the account activity tab. You can see the same number you called and date and time with it. if you send it text it shows up in the logs it might not show the message or number but i'm sure if they wanted to they could easily get the info themselves. The only thing you wont see is anything about data, only the data usage info you are allowed access to but anyway my point is you every move on your phone that has to do with their service is being logged somewhere on their servers, you cant stop them from seeing who just called or who you just called or if you sent a text within the last 5 mins or not. Same goes for Data.

Looking through my files and i caught an error, im guessing you didn't update via the OTA but downloaded the 1.0.6 zip straight from the OP?

I did update from the ota but didn't let it wipe cache and data from the ota. I manually rebooted to cwm and wiped cache and data/format from there. And everything went smoothly but ram swap wasn't showing up. I flashed the simplicity kernal to see if that did anything and it only made things worse. WiFi wasn't working and it couldn't authenticate wifi services. I decided to either go back to the prior update or wait for cyanogenmod. So I decided to wait for cm. Thanks for your efforts

Everything looks fine via the otas end so idk where you went wrong. Lol cm won't be finished in a week. These things takes months to be somewhat stable.

just wanted to tell you that in order to fix the missing swap, I powered off, went into cwm , wiped cache, re flashed (it said error during install because it could not find 1.0.4) and on reboot the swap folder was present. once again thank you, I love this ROM. even more so because I've been using nova prime for ever which made for a smooth transition. you should also look into widget locker from tesla which makes for a great lock screen.
I am so excited for the next update!
respect,

It gave you that could not find 1.0.4 error because you probably weren't on 1.0.4, in order to install the 1.0.6 ota, the system will check to see if you're on 1.0.4 first, you can no longer jump versions on my OTA's because they are not full rom zips anymore they are just patches.

To be exact. I need to flash 1.0.4 before I do 1.0.6??? Because so far , with 1.0 .2 this f7 is badazz and I commend you on it. 1397520672046.jpg
