Discuss all Moto Droid Razr/Maxx HD rumors/release date/speculation/news

All those reviews have made me not want it. I like a clean simple to use phone without a bunch of stuff clogging it up. It just seems like samsung is trying.its hardest to compete with apple instead of listening to what people actually want

Mainly a combo of all the stuff Samsung added to Andriod and the comments about the display. Add on there I was already leery about the actual call quality/signal strength and I think I'm going a different route. I'm sure it'll be a great device for a lot of people, and I wish I felt comfortable pulling the trigger on this one as I love getting latest and greatest when I buy new tech stuff, but I'm not the majority of people who buy a new smart phone. I want something that's a good phone first and fairly clean and simple to use. All that voice operated stuff and gestures etc. isn't something I'd care about using anyway - for me, personally, that's not at the top of my priority list. Let me make and receive calls in a clear manner, send some texts, read some emails, tweet and check in on foursquare and use Google Nav, and I'm a happy boy.
 
Yea...I almost pulled the plug on the GS3...I still may after more user posts come out. What changed my mind was the new plans for Verizon became more clearer for existing customers.

Yeah, now that I've had a chance to figure out the new plans, it would cost me money to go to a new one, so I have 8 days to figure out if I want a Maxx or Rezound.

I'm all for shared data plans. I was one of the ones asking vzw to add them. But at these prices, it's too much.

vzw is leaving no option for someone who doesn't use a lot of minutes and a lot of data to have their costs skyrocket. The only account that won't become more expensive is for one that already has unlimited everything. In that case, they might pay a tad less if they only have smartphones and tablets currently. If you have even one dumbphone, it's going to be the same price or more no matter what.

I've been with vzw since 1991(gte mobilnet back then). I'll hang on to our Xs for now, but as soon as there's something that I really want that another carrier has, if they offer a more cost effective plan, I'm there.

Loyalty only goes so far.
 
Well, I think I've decided on buying the S3 and selling it off to buy the Razr HD retail. I really hope it comes out within the next couple months and it turns out to be what it has been hyped up as. Does anyone know where the best place would be to buy the HD off contract? I've always bought through Verizon and it seems that most places on sell certain phones off contract, with the more popular ones only with a service plan.
 
I also ordered an SG3, but until you actually play with these things you don't know if you want to be married to them for two years. If I don't like the SG3 I'll eBay it for a Maxx HD
 
I wonder if Maxx HD will have 4.1 baked in? I hope this device is amazing since VZW has put me in the position of paying full retail for it.
 
Seriously considering getting the S3, and not for unlimited data. We'll manage on one of the share plans. It's just something sticks in my craw about it. While it sounds like build quality is good (by Samsung standards.I saw the one video of a reviewer twisting the back plate.

If I had to guess,I would think nothing officially until the end of July, because at that point, they will not be able to exchange their S3's

I'm just surprised that someone who is connected with the Maxx HD project hasn't leaked more info or photos of the phone. If the phone is to be released in the July/August/September time frame there has to be prototypes or even possibly pre-production/test units around. Also, there must be some documents with specs that someone who is willing to post anonymously. But then again maybe Motorola is really clamping down on that kind of behavior.

I keep looking everyday hoping for any tidbit to feed my curiosity.

Oh well, I remain, patiently/impatiently waiting for Maxx HD info, :smokingsomb:
 
I decided to order the S3, solely becaue of what happened at the release of the Bionic. I waited so long for that phone, and it failed to live up to the hype. Fast forward a few months and here comes the razr. While I've always been a fan of moto, and never cared for touch wiz, I jumped ship. The bionic still has troubles going in and out of signal for me, constantly. I've been to VZ, and had a new card put in a few times. The HD looks to be an amazing phone, sadly moto has rubbed me the wrong way. Good luck on your wait, guys :) (not sarcasm)
 
Ok, I'm appealing to someone who works at Motorola and has access to info/pix of the Maxx HD. Just post something.... anything.... annonomously(sp?) I'm dying of thirst here.

Other than that, I'm waiting patiently/impatiently,
 
Well after owning the Razr Maxx for a few days now, I think I am going to start looking at this as my next phone. After switching out from my Galaxy Nexus the only thing I would really like to have is the screen back. If this actually ends up being what it is speculated to be it will be amazing. Honestly, I hope this thing has a bigger battery than the Maxx though. Am I asking too much? :D

To those jumping at the S3, I really hope your Samsung experience is better than mine and so many others. I know some of you say that Moto has rubbed you the wrong way, I'm the exact same way about Samsung.

Hey there OTD:wavey:

What made you give up your hard-fought GN? I remember you snagging it early from BB IIRC. Might it have been the radio and 1-way audio?

For me, the only manufacturer that actually makes phones that work consistently is Moto, and despite VZW bloat or locks, I'm waiting and hoping this is the one.

I pre ordered the S3 and feel the same way about Samsung. I have low expectations, but with unlimited data go bye bye.... It wasn't as if me and my budget had too many options. :-(

Hopefully Samsung will give this phone more attention than they do their tablets.

Yep, the one-way/muted audio in calls finally got to me. It started happening more and more frequently (7 out of 10 calls) and I was done. I switched to the Razr Maxx a few days ago (can't say VZW never did anything for me now) and I couldn't be happier. The locked bootloader has never really bothered me with Moto. I root to have Titanium Backup and CWM as well as apps like Adfree. The custom Roms and kernels don't real interest me anymore. I can disable any app I don't want with ICS so the bloat isn't an issue either. I just want a solid working phone that I can rely on and that works well.

The Razr Maxx with ICS is an amazing phone in my book. As I said, giving it an HD screen will make it perfect. A 13MP camera and faster everything running Jelly Bean won't hurt either. That is one of the reasons I think there is a wait right now for the HD. The release of Jelly Bean next month might be just what they are holding out on.

I hope for your sake as well as everyone else getting the phone that is amazing. Samsung did a real disservice to the Fascinate, Charge and Nexus owners. I'd like to say that Verizon did too, but they did swap me out for a Razr Maxx so I can't complain to much.
 
I'm hoping/thinking you're right about JB, OTD. That would make this perfect in my book.

LOL I already missed it this year. It airs on TV later today at 3pm and 8pm Eastern on ESPN3/ESPN. It is a tape delayed live event so may be a bit boring for people who just want to see highlights. If you figure out a way to raise $10K for next year, I'll play for sure though.;)
