Discuss all Moto Droid Razr/Maxx HD rumors/release date/speculation/news

The only reason I'm willing to wait it because I'm not too keen on getting either the S3 or Incredible 4G. If Moto holds back the Razr HD, fine, but if the new Nexus' are coming out around the same time, and from multiple OEMs, I will look at them as well. Risky move if real by Moto IMO.

Just chiming in with my own skepticism about the "HotHardware" story. Kind of feels like one of the MANY "view-grab" articles I read when waiting for the Droid X (oh, how long ago that seems).

October really does seem like just about the worst possible time to release, and both the regular and Maxx versions coming out at the same time feels like lunacy.

Motorola might, but this still seems wildly far-fetched to me.

I hope this doesn't delay the phone.

Google Inc. (GOOG) plans to cut about 4,000 jobs at its Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. unit, or about 20 percent of the staff at the company it bought earlier this year, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Two-thirds of the reductions will be outside the U.S.,

Motorola released about 20 smartphones last year, which Woodside said is too many. He plans to focus on trying to make a few great devices and then concentrate on marketing resources to sell them, he said in May.

When they said release fewer phones and put out "greater phones" does that mean the upcoming razr hd? Or are they talking about 2013.

Your guess is as good an anyone elses, because I couldn't find where they specified.

I think the Razr HD is going to be a great phone, but it's been in the "pipeline" for quite some time so hard to say whether Google would have been referring to it specificly. :smokingsomb:

I really hope the delay is only to make sure it comes with Jelly Bean. The S3 is rumored to get Jelly Bean by the end of August. If this is true and Moto releases the Razr HD with Ice Cream Sandwich, we really will be buying an outdated phone.

I recently read that its only gonna feature an 8MP cam... I was hoping for a 12MP cam...

Unfortunately you can't just go by MPs though. I'm not an expert but I know that MPs don't matter for picture quality nearly as much as the sensor, lens and other electronics. You can go buy a 20MP camera for $200 or a 16MP camera for $5,000. That being said, Motorola definitely needs to improve their cameras and should probably throw out what they've always used and start from scratch.

I'm really starting to think that I should have pre-ordered the S3 to keep my unlimited data.
I was looking forward to
3300 mah battery - no longer happening
13 megapixel camera -might not happen
New phone with NEW Android OS - ICS instead of Jelly Bean (more then likley)

MP over 8 on a standard smartphone sized sensor/lens module is BAD and NOT good. Unless you are ONLY concerned about EXTREMELY well lit variety photography. The more pixels on the same sized sensor the smaller they are and the less light they can gather over a given amount of exposure time. On the tiny sensors in the tiny modules in a smartphone the limit is really around 8mp. Technically though if you would prefer better low light performance over extreme fidelity and cropping ability on well lit shots and someone made a low light optimized 5mp sensor it would be BETTER than the normal 8mp ones you get now. Not sure there are any high end low light focused 5mp camera phone sized sensor components out there though so much as value versions of the 8mp ones.

Basically though if you want good indoor use, you want 8mp and no more. Unless it's known to have a HUGE near half SLR sized sensor like the one in the Nokia 808 Pureview. That would be and even more awesome indoor camera if it was 12-20mp rather than 40mp. It's a decent indoor and awesome zoomable outdoor cam the way it's configured with 40mp though. In the correct situations it will resolve more than most good high end SLR's even.

I was wondering what you all think about the flash not being supported any longer on mobile devices. Do you think the razor hd will have flash on it? if it doesn't come preinstalled how will we get it later?

In the leaked pictures of the Razr HD, there does appear to be something next to the camera lens that could be a flash. I hope so anyway, I like having the flash available.

Patiently/impatiently waiting for more info on the Razr HD. (official or unofficial) :smokingsomb:

No, I meant flash as an adobe flash. LOL

It was reported that if your phone doesn't have it preinstalled now that the Google play has pulled it and you can no longer download it.

Sometimes I crack myself up..... haha!

Sorry, I totally misread that! :smokingsomb::):smokingsomb::confused:

Welcome to the first thread on the Motorola Droid RAZR HD forum. Always fun to speculate on a device before it comes out and see if these rumors hold up. Of course there have been many out there, but I'll start w/ this one.

Rumor: No RAZR MAXX HD Coming, Only an 8MP Camera in the RAZR HD – Droid Life

I love how it says there will be no MAXX version of this device. I mean like they would tell us, just as they did when the Droid RAZR came out right  . Gotta be honest I would hold off for a couple of months after launch & see.

Instead of speculating whether or not it will have a 13mp camera, which I personally think it will not, why don't speculate on whether or not Moto finally listened to years worth of complaints and just made a new/good camera?

I'm hoping that since this is a HD (hi-def, not Heavy-Duty) phone, that the camera does take the best pictures of any Motorola Phone to date.

However, even if the camera on the Maxx HD is the same as my Droid X, it won't stop me from purchasing it. Some other things might, but not the camera.

Probably the thing that bugs me the most is the non-user replaceable battery. I really like having the option to switch out the battery for a fresh one or even a larger battery if I choose. It looks like this will be a pretty thin phone so a thicker HD (Heavy Duty) battery would be something I would have no problem with.

So Verizon/Motorola, give us some official specs and a release date!

I have a feeling (by feeling I mean reported info from some Verizon employees;)) that Moto will be offering up 3 different devices in October. The Razr HD and the Razr Mini are two of them. At this point a tablet or the Razr Maxx HD are speculated.

Yeah. The Mini has made it through the FCC and seems to be an Incredible 4G LTE competitor. That has a 4.3" screen though. I'm still scratching my head about what size screen the HD will be. If it's like 4.5-4.6 or something not so big and the mini is closer to 4", then maybe the last could be a properly large screened device they have been more successful keeping from leaking to hit as a surprise with the other two??

Never heard the 3 device at once claim, but did seem there were at least 2.

I've had 2 or 3 different people tell me that 3 devices are being launched on Verizon in or around October. I was hopping for a Mini, HD and Maxx HD. I have a feeling though that there will be some kind of tablet or a Droid 5 instead of a Maxx HD.

I'm speculating that there will be an announcement on September 5th at 2pm EST by Motorola. I also speculate that it will involve a Verizon phone and/or tablet.
