Discuss all Moto Droid Razr/Maxx HD rumors/release date/speculation/news

Hmmmm, looks like Motorola is making some kind of announcement on September 5th at 2 pm EST. Verizon logo included on the announcement.

I just can't figure what this could be about.

The invite features the phrase "On Display," which to me points to HD devices. FWIW.:smokingsomb:

I hope not. They may be great for some, but anything beyond 4.8" is just too big for a screen.....unless we are talking about something with zero bezel.

Well the picture we have seen of the RAZR HD suggest that device isn't a very large screened device. My whole reason for not expecting tablets is that the new Share Everything stuff makes them less profitable in general. Unless of course you can tie them into your voice plan with a BT headset or something. The data focus though has me expecting a bunch of devices that are part of voice plans, but can use lots of data easier. Bigger screens help with that.

Secod thoughts about the HD.
Im wondering about the next galaxy note with 5.5 screen. Really, 98% of my use is media, internet and games. Although i do use the phone by bt only like 3-5 calls a week are to my ear.
I know its HUGE, but....it will easily fit all my pockets.

I remember when the Droid X was coming out I went to the Sprint store to check out the EVO because it had a 4.3" screen (same as the "X") and I was worried that I would think it might be to big. Well, after trying the EVO I thought it's not to bad, I can handle that. So when the "X" was released on the 15th of July, 2010, I bought it. I put it in one of the clear cases, which made it even bigger but I still thought it was ok. After a month, I removed the clear case because the phone wouldn't fit in the desk or car dock with it on. After having the clear case on it for a month, removing it made the phone now seem a lot smaller. I'm very easy on my phones so I put a Steinheil "Ultra Crystal" film on the screen (just in case) and here I am 2+ years later.

I guess I said all the above just to say I think a 5.5" screen would be just to big for me. Although I do play games on my phone and would appreciate the bigger screen for that, I get and make about 8-10 calls a day and a 5.5" screen would bug me.

I'm looking forward to the 4.6" screen of the Razr HD (or whatever size it ends up being) and think I'll be able to handle that. Now, not that I'm wishing my life away, but if the Razr HDs release date is in October, it can't come to soon for me.

I'm patiently/impatiently waiting for the release of the Razr HD.

with 4.8 for the S3, who would have thought over 10,000,000 people would have bought it.

You have to keep in mind that girls have small hands. The Nexus was at the top of my comfort level for phones. The Note is just too big for me to use on a regular basis. If I want something that big I'll get a Nexus 7 and keep it in my purse.

That's why you have two of 'em! :p

If I go the HD route (thinking of Note 2), I'll do retail to keep ULD. If a Maxx comes out later, I'll be upset. However, if the "non" maxx with 2550 isn't enough per reviews, then I won't buy it anyway.
My thoughts are that if you bought the razr with a non removable battery and after 14 days found out it wasn't enough for you, you should have returned it. Then when Maxx comes out, you really cannot be too mad like VZW screwed you. You, all the way to the day before the maxx announcement, had a good phone that you thought was worthy of your money. Then a maxx comes out and your mad because your battery life sucks? Should have returned it in the 14day window.
Well, sure, I'd be upset, who wouldn't; but not fully angry.
So that I don't get screwed by a mysterious maxx HD coming out. I'll do retail. If I then would like more than 2550, I'll sell for a loss and buy a maxx.

True. I'd wager most Note 2 owners are men.
Since I'm a male, I have decent sized hands, average I guess. I know I could not hold the Note in my right hand and tough the upper left corner of the screen without my palm or thumb "heel?" activating the search soft key. Then again, there is nothing in the top left corner of any phone I need. The pull down menu is center screen. If the note 2 only has 3 buttons or none, it might work even better.
I do have to blame all this on the S3 though. Even though I only had it for 13 days, the screen size of 4.8 was quite nice compared to my DX at 4.3.
A lot of it will come down to screen brightness. That is the main reason my S3 went back in hopes of a moto device with LCD and color boost. It is a very good display compared to the S3 when i did a side by side.

Untill I see both devices, I'll flounder around between the two.
Then again, if there is no VZW Note 2, all is mute anyway.

Do you think Motorola will lose sales by not releasing the Razr HD for pre-order before the iPhone 5 pre-orders begin?

I know Motorola is having a conference Sept 5 and news of the Razr HD is probably evident but I highly doubt they will start pre-orders before the iPhone 5.

I actually think a 7" tablet you could put on a cellular voice plan would do OK. And I think they are more likely to happen now that the big money maker is the unlimited voice/text stuff on voice plans rather than unlimited data/text being the big money makes before smart devices were real common. The original galaxy Tab was voice capable, but had that taken out on most versions for US carriers.

When I bought my Nexus my upgrade was not used, for some reason, so I still have one. Since the Nexus was traded in for a Maxx I am really happy with it. I wouldn't mind having a faster processor and better screen, but it isn't a must just yet. I have no problem with sitting back and waiting to see what comes out. Maybe even until next year or when the Razr HD drops in price.

I like the fact that they are sticking with with same style. The corners are a little more curved, but they didn't completely change to design of the phone.
